WTF Is Retinol And What Are My Options?

Let’s face it, life is hard enough. There is absolutely no reason why it should be hard when it comes to taking care of your skin. The truth is that most of the time, IT JUST IS. So, when we want to kick things up a notch we typically turn to products. One of those products is retinol. If you’re like millions of Americans living in the world today, then you’re most likely using skin care products and you haven’t got a clue as to why.

Well, of course, you know that it’s to help “fix your skin” or make your “skin issues go away.” We get it, but you need to know how they work and why it’s in your best interest to incorporate them into your routine.

Before diving head first into retinol products, I’ll share some information on the product, what it does, and why you might need it in your life.

Here’s Why Retinol Is A Boss And Why You Need It

No doubt, retinol’s reputation is strong and well-deserved. It’s one of those ingredients that’s a staple and often underrated by some haters out there. Retinol is a derivative vitamin A1 and it’s often incorporated into various ingredients in order to fight aging signs. This ingredient has been proven to help reduce the presence of lines as well as wrinkles. I’ll go as far as admitting that it will actually prevent it from forming in the first place.

If you’re dealing with pigmentation as well as typical acne issues, then retinol may be just what the doctor ordered, literally. Many dermatologists throughout the United States will recommend and even prescribe creams that contain this ingredient. The main reason that they do this is to help add some pep in your step in terms of skin cell regeneration. As a result, you’ll have healthier looking skin, elasticity, better texture, and more.

But where the heck do you start right? There are lots of options out there and I’m going to help you make some buying decisions. Well, I’m not going to tell you what to buy, but I’ll share some thoughts with you.

Product Options

Skinceuticals Retinol Cream

The first product I want to introduce you to is called Skinceuticals Retinol 0.5 and it’s for people that may be dealing with sensitive skin issues. If you’ve never tried anything with retinol, the start here. It contains 0.55% of pure retinol.

Baebody Moisturizer

Next on the list is the Baebody Retinol Moisturizer Cream. The reason I like this product is that so many people have reviewed it on Amazon.com. It can help you firm up your skin, make your wrinkles go away, and more. You’ll find that it contains 2.5% retinol, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, vitamin B5, green tea, and jojoba oil. This product is affordable and it works. Not to mention, you’ll get a full refund if you’re not satisfied with the product.

lilyana naturals retinol cream

Another product option for you is the LilyAna Naturals Retinol Cream Moisturizer. This product contains plant-based ingredients and it’s perfect for those looking to achieve clear, youthful looking skin. I actually covered this brand in a product review. I invite you to check it out right here. Yes, this is another Amazon product that you’ll be privy to a full refund if not satisfied.

dr dennis gross cream

I’m a big fan of these Dr. Dennis Gross products too and you’ll find that the Ferulic Plus Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Overnight Serum is a top selection for many. The reason I like this product is that it works to not only promote cell turnover, but it also reduces the breakdown of collagen which happens far too often. You apply this serum at night and sleep with it on. When you wake up, it’s been doing its job all night long! Oh, did I mention that this is paraben free and perfect for vegans?

the ordinary retinoid emulsion

The last product that I want to recommend checking out is by a company called The Ordinary. It’s their Granactive Retinoid 2% emulsion and it’s perfect for all people no matter what type of skin you’re sporting. The product is what I’d consider a medium strength product. It’s suitable for all types of people and doesn’t typically cause much irritation. You can scoop this up at Amazon as well.

So, there you have it. If you’re interested in jumping on the retinol bandwagon (which you should) then I suggest you try one of those mentioned above. If you have any questions, please let me know. I’d like to leave you with this one final tip. If you’re going to use these products, do so at night, not in the morning as retinol and the sun doesn’t typically get along that well.
