What Products Do I Need?

It’s a regular occurrence that we receive inquiries and questions on skin care products. Not only on specific products themselves but the types of products in general as well. Many of the questions that come in are those which are geared towards the specific products that you actually need to keep your skin looking great. So many gurus today will both poke and praise products until the cows come home. They spend endless hours sharing information and spitting jargon out that so many consumers can’t even comprehend.

Don’t take that the wrong way, I’m not saying that they don’t understand. I’m telling you that it seems like many brands today throw around tricky terminology and ingredient name-dropping just to catch consumers eyes. They spend every waking moment divulging their specific routine steps from start to finish. While there’s likely some truth to that, there is something that you need to know.

My guess is that most of the beauty bloggers out there don’t use all the products that they write about. They are marketing and promoting while occasionally using products but keeping dozens within their daily routine? That’s highly unlikely!

Sure, there are hundreds of serums, washes, creams, devices and more that you can use to achieve amazing looking skin. However, if you’re wondering which to incorporate, then all you need to do is read this article. I’m giving you the bare essentials when it comes to caring for your skin.

Skin Products That You Absolutely Need

This is a simple list of the essentials when it comes to skin care products. If you’re into using the bare essentials, then you’re going to love this article. I’ve literally laid out every type of product that you need to use and that’s it. Let’s get started!

Cleanser

One of the most important steps in any skin routine is the cleansing process. You’ll need to pick up a decent cleanser to keep your skin looking great and you’ll need to use it twice daily. The most important thing to note here is that the cleanser must successfully remove your makeup.

Don’t take this the wrong way though, you don’t need anything that’s super harsh on your skin. Instead, find a cleanser that best suits your skin type. You can do this by simply speaking with your skin doctor or asking someone at the beauty counter at Sephora or Ulta.

Sunscreen

I’ve said this so many times and I hate to have to repeat it once again but I will, you must wear sunscreen. Using sunscreen is something that everyone needs to do and those not using it are destroying their skin as days go by. Your skin type doesn’t excuse you from wearing sunscreen.

For example, if your skin oily, then you can find a sunscreen meant for oily skin. Whatever you do, don’t skip this step. It’s literally crucial to your skin health and overall wellness. Avoiding damage to your skin, cancer, and wrinkles is always a plus. My suggestion would be to do some research on our site and familiarize yourself with the various SPF ratings and what they mean. You’ll need to equip yourself with an SPF 30 or higher.

Serums

Most people that know anything about skin care have heard about the various skin serums on the market today. There are plenty of serums loaded with antioxidants that you can choose from. One specific ingredient that you’ll want to be on the lookout for is vitamin C serum.

Most consumers are able to handle this ingredient and in fact, lots of them look for this as it’s very effective. If you’re looking for a serum brand to try, check this one out. It’s for your eyes and it rocks.

Exfoliant

Exfoliating your skin is a must if you plan on trying to rejuvenate it. This process helps with cell turnover and most exfoliants often contain alpha hydroxy acid. This injunction with whatever serum you use is a huge win in my book. Like I said, your best bet would be to head to the local Sephora store and get the scoop on what’s hot in the exfoliating product department. Find something that sparks your interest and just go for it.

Toner

Next on the list is the trusty toner. Not everyone is in desperate need of a toner but it’s recommended. People that have oily skin should work a toner into their routine on a daily basis. It can be a game changer and really help remove the makeup built up from the daily 9-5 grind.

Night Cream

As you age, it’s important to give your skin that extra boost it needs while you sleep. Night creams can really help repair things and prevent any drying out which typically occurs as you get older. My advice would be to find a quality night cream that contains ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and essential oils.

As an added bonus, I’d also like to recommend that you use an eye cream. Start using this in your early 20s and you can thank me once you hit your 30s.

Those are the bare essentials when it comes to any healthy skin care routine. This is all that you need to know so start here, keep it simple and let me know if you have any other questions!
