I decided to go and search for some new skin care lines this week to test out and report back on. One of the brands I recently discovered was Valjean Labs. I did quite a bit of searching here and ended up stuck in a number of ways. I’ll explain on all that shortly. Nevertheless, I’m here to share what I know about the brand and what you need to know before making any purchasing decisions in the future. You name it, I’ve covered it. Here goes nothing…
Valjean Labs Review
One of the many skincare companies that make discount and budget-friendly products is Valjean Labs. Among the Valjean Labs products are four different facial serums that are intended to have different effects on your skin. The types of products they offer are called: Hydrate, Firm, Restore, Clarify, and Glow. Let’s take a look into this brand and some of their products. I’ve shared some of the important things which I’ve discovered with readers below. Just keep reading to get the full scoop. Heck, I’ve even shared a video covering some specifics about the brand.
But first, the company details…
I don’t have any other way to put this. Valjean Labs is sort of a “ghost” company, as there is no official company website and no social media profile on any social platform. It is extremely difficult to find accurate information about the company on the internet. There is also no information concerning details about the manufacturing and the products in general.
Typically when this happens I just back away entirely and move on to the next brand because I have no time for a witch hunt or wild goose chase when it comes to skin brands. I simply write them off and call it a day. Not this time though, I kept searching.
Until eventually, I did find that the Valjean Labs brand is owned by the Jocott Brands. I found that Jocott Brands is a developer and seller of branded consumer products that are supposed to offer simple, effective solutions to personal care needs. In other words, they make economical personal goods that most people can afford.
Jocott Brands was formed in 2009 and have slowly been building their reputation by delivering products that answer to a specific market. To be honest, I don’t like this at all, as this leads to the conclusion that the company is more interested in the marketing instead of the quality and effectiveness of the products.
The intended market is millennials that look for affordable skin/beauty/cosmetics with “glam” names but are not that interested in the specifics of the products, and the company policies that are behind the products. This rubs me the wrong way, sorry, not sorry. However, before we jump to conclusions, let me dive into the ingredients a bit deeper.
The facial serums which are considered staple products offered by the Valjean Labs, all have interesting names and they assist in various methods. This assistance is achieved via different active ingredients in each of the products.
Even though the ingredients are listed on the product, after a careful looking over the lists, the conclusion is that all of these have the same composition; the only difference is in the main active ingredient used within each product.
As for active ingredients, you’ve got vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B5, vitamin A, vitamin B3, magnesium, zinc, witch hazel extract, ferulic acid and hyaluronic acid.
There are many other ingredients in the serums that can be potentially harmful to consumers skin which you need to worry about. Things like fillers, preservatives and harsh chemicals may be present. It’s important that you check the labels carefully before applying anything to your skin.
Even though these ingredients are indeed used in many cosmetics products, due to the lack of relevant information about Valjean Labs, it is my professional and personal opinion that the serums need to be carefully investigated by each consumer before using them. Again, to be 100% clear, I am not telling you to not use these products. Instead, I’m telling you to do your homework before applying any and all skin care products to your skin including those made by this brand.
The four facial serums by Valjean Labs have product naming conventions in alignment with the intended impact of the serums. According to the Jocott Brands website, the serums are super-concentrated and contain essential nutrients that help specific skin issues. I’ve done my best to cover what I know about each below.
This serum is made with hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5. Both active ingredients are beneficial to the skin, the hyaluronic acid plums the skin and it keeps it as moisturized as can be while the B5 helps restore the skin’s elasticity. It’s a win-win no doubt about that.
The Firm serum is made with vitamin E and ferulic acid, as the main active ingredients. Both of these are strong antioxidants that help push along the collagen production, making the skin as best as can be and bringing back that youthful look you once had.
The Restore serum contains Niacinamide aka vitamin B3 which does a good job of purifying the skin, and it also contains zinc. The zinc is what helps keep the skin refreshed, soothing any irritation issues that you might be dealing with.
The Glow serum contains the infamous vitamin C, which we all know is a powerful antioxidant responsible for helping with the revitalization of your skin. You’ll also find magnesium in this product which helps even out the tone of the skin, making it smoother and brighter.
Looking for some more information on the Valjean products before making a purchase? If so, then check this video out below.
I found some very positive reviews regarding the Valjean labs products. But, I’m reluctant to suggest using them over all others as there are lots of options out there. According to the parent company, Jocott Brands, the Valjean Labs facial serums are highly concentrated, knowing what I know and the price of the products, something just doesn’t add up. I guess my point is that just because a skin care product is expensive or cheap doesn’t mean that it’s good or bad vice versa. Just be sure to do your homework before you buy and apply – simple as that!
