I’m calling you out right now. Yes, I’m talking to you girl! Let’s assume that I’m a betting woman (which I am because I love Wheel of Fortune slot machines), I’m willing to bet that you’re making mistakes every single day that impact your skin. While I’m going to remain as humble and calm as possible here, it’s going to be tough to do so. Reason being, simple silly skin care mistakes make me angry!
One of my pet peeves is when people whine and complain about the condition of their skin, yet they break every rule in the book when it comes to taking care of their skin. Quite frankly, I cannot stand it!
Anyway, now that I got that rant out of my system, here are some of the most common mistakes that majority of women amongst society make today. Before you start rolling your eyes, I want you to understand that it’s never too late to start.
Stop Making These Mistakes Or You’ll Be Sorry
Each of these things I’m going to cover is manageable and easily avoided. Pay close attention because many of these can cause serious damage to your skin if not fixed immediately.
Exfoliating Too Much
If you’re exfoliating every single day just to look younger, then you’re doing your skin zero favors. The aggressive exfoliating, especially with some of the handheld devices on the market today can injure your skin. Too much exfoliating causes dryness, flaking, dehydrated skin, and even damage to the natural barrier of your skin. My advice to you is to cut way back on the exfoliating treatments. Do it weekly at best and you’ll be far better off!
Excessive Product Use
Are you obsessed with using skin care product after skin care product? Great! Now drop them all and step away from the products! Too many women think that they need to use tons of products daily to look and feel their best. They think that more is younger in a sense. Instead, using too many products in your routine can cause major issues for your skin. Get rid of the toners, exotic scrubs, and stick to the basics instead.
You Don’t Sleep
If you’re up all night pacing back and forth or even worse, watching bad TV while raiding the cookie jar, then you’re going to find yourself stuck in a rut for sure. Sleep is a necessity and restricting yourself from getting enough isn’t going to help your skin. In fact, it’s been known to cause damage. Plan on getting an full eight hours of sleep a night or plan on having bad skin.
Not Removing Makeup To Sweat
If you’re heading to the gym, then do your skin a favor and remove it before sweating to the oldies. Makeup caked on your skin for a workout is a perfect recipe for horrible skin. Your pores will get clogged and you’ll eventually end up breaking out with zits. Trust me, it’s happened before as I learned the hard way.
Lacking consistency in all things in life is a big problem. Most people that aren’t consistent with the types of products they use or the application of them eventually end up with bad skin. Swapping products for other products is a huge no-no so don’t even think about doing it!
Assuming you leave the house without sunscreen on, then you’re one that’s bound to look older than the rest. Be ready for the wrinkles to set in earlier than expected and those fine lines will be right there too. If you’re looking to avoid this, then wear sunscreen. Forgetting to do so is a simple yet costly mistake that we all make from time to time. Don’t make a habit of it!
