I’m a strong advocate for living life healthy as possible. Sure we all slip up from time to time, but when it comes to healthy skin, I make zero exceptions to the rule. If you’ve taken even just a second to read one or two of the articles I’ve written, then you’d know this about me already.
If I asked you what you think people spend on an annual basis to look good, would you know? Collectively, people are spending about $55 billion each year to look awesome and they aren’t slowing down at this point either! In fact, according to a recent report by The Beauty Company, women typically spend about $15,000 over their lifetime on cosmetics. Chances are they wouldn’t have to spend as much if they took better care of their skin in general.
I mean no offense by saying that. In fact, I think that if you’re offended by the statement that I’ve made then you might just feel guilty about the way that you treat your skin and body. Look, if you want to take a stand against the inevitable (which I think you should), then you need to keep reading…
Stop Doing These Things If You Want Nice Skin
Here are a number of things that you must stop doing immediately if you want a healthy looking complexion. I’d be willing to guess that you can relate to what I’m about to share below, at least to one of these things.
If you’re a smoker, then for gosh sakes you’ve got to quit that disgusting habit immediately. There’s literally nothing good about smoking. Now a single damn thing! If you choose to smoke, then do so by using a vaporizer of some sort as it’s not as harmful to your body. Simply put, smoking causes wrinkles, lines, yellow-tint, leathery patches and more. It’s been known to increase the aging process by 1.5 years which makes a huge difference.
Drink More Water
You’re not drinking enough water and it’s literally destroying your skin and insides. Every essential part of your body requires water to function properly. When your skin is nice and well-hydrated, you’ll find that you break out much less, have fewer dry patches, and fewer wrinkles. People that get dehydrated often look worse than those well hydrated and they’re not in as good of moods as those who have been pounding the water.
Slow Down On The Sushi
Ever heard of the term “sushi face?” It’s a term used to describe bloating in the facial region from consuming too much sodium. Too much salt can be a very bad thing. Your skin will retain too much water if you eat too much sodium-rich food. This also has a negative effect on collagen production.
Catch More Z’s
Not getting enough sleep will kill you. Your body needs to rest and recover in order to function properly. When your body lacks rests, your cortisol levels get whacky as well as hormones as they end up kicking in and you become more prone to breakouts. Not getting enough sleep can be a real burden. I don’t know about you but I need my rest if I’m going to function at an optimal level.
I bet you’re eating too much sugar as well. Do you know how closely connected sugar and breakouts are? The tiny amount of nutritional value isn’t worth the risk of hurting your skin. Sugar can damage collagen levels. It can make your immune system weaker. It can also assist in keeping your pores clogged. Just avoid sugar completely for a month and see what a difference that’ll have on your skin. I guarantee it’ll make a huge difference!
Start by evaluating your daily habits this weekend and keeping a journal of the things you do. I bet if you made a couple of small adjustments, they would make all the difference in the world.
