List Of Strange Beauty Treatments

Here goes nothing and don’t knock any of these until you try them! Many members of our team have tried these treatments just to see what they are like. Don’t be afraid, it is all for the greater good of your skin!

This treatment doesn’t sound all that strange but I promise you it is. Icing, also known as Ayurveda is a concept that has been practiced for many generations. It’s basically the act of applying something extremely cold to your face in an attempt to revive your skin. Doing so is said to make it glow more. This treatment is scientifically related to cryotherapy.

Recall the last time you went outside in the freezing cold. Was your face red? Well, that’s what this treatment essentially recreates. In order to do this, you’ll need an ice cube or something that’s cold and safe to apply to your face. You’ll need to apply it for a period of about ten minutes. Do not apply it directly to your skin. Best practice is to use something to act as a barrier.

You don’t want to freezer burn the skin on your face by making direct contact. Be sure to concentrate on applying the cold compress or ice to your problematic areas such as your under eyes or areas where your pores are large. Some people prefer to kick things up a notch by creating green tea ice cubes to further enhance the self-made cryotherapy treatment. If you do not want to go through the hassle of making ice cubes, you can find products on Amazon that you can purchase. They create the same effect for a little bit more money.

I’ve actually covered the micro-needling treatment right here in a post that I wrote. It’s a very strange, yet somewhat mainstream skin procedure that people are doing on a regular basis. Some folks hit the dermatologist or skin specialist for help with this while others prefer to do it all at home. Another name for this treatment is called derma-rolling.

It works pretty easy, all you need to do is roll your skin using the micro needling device and it basically creates a bunch of cuts that are harmless on your skin. The technology behind this treatment is simple, the cuts further stimulate your skin, allowing it to produce more collagen. The production of collagen is essential if you want to keep your skin looking great. This can also help eliminate scars as well as wrinkles in various areas of your face. One thing I’d like to point out is that if you have sensitive skin, it’s super important to take a few days off in between treatments. Your skin may actually look worse after getting the treatment. Fear not, this should only last a couple of days.

Snake Venom

Honestly, snake venom doesn’t seem all that weird to me after being in the industry for so long. It’s just another one of those unique ingredients’ that does something to your skin upon contact. Snake venom or a synthetic version of it called Syn-ake is commonly found in many products today. Many anti aging creams incorporate this into their product to help freeze the muscles without causing permanent damage. Not allowing your muscles to contract often results in having fewer wrinkles. It has a lot to do with neurotransmitters and muscle contracting. That said, do not jump on eBay in search for some homemade snake venom. If you’re going to do that, then you’re about to get involved in the biggest scam of your life. Instead, find a professionally manufactured product and take it from there.

Geisha Facial

Okay, this one is kind of weird if you’re living in the United States. It’s called a geisha facial and it involves a very strange ingredient, bird excrement! It’s an ancient tradition that every geisha goes through while in preparation.

Before you go getting completely grossed out, I need to share some more information with you on this. Nightingales are bred and their “poop” is completely disinfected, dried and powdered. That powder makes its way into beauty treatment centers and salons. Once you get your hands on this powder, all you need to do is add a small amount of water to jump start the mix and apply it to your face. Leave it on for about 10 minutes or so and you should be good to go. Want to know who actually uses this strange beauty treatment? I bet you didn’t think Victoria Beckham is who I was going to mention, but it’s true!
