Most of us have heard of Argan Oil or used a product containing Argan Oil, but what exactly is Argan Oil?
Argan Oil is derived from the fruit Argan. Inside the fruit is a nut. The nut contains the Argan. Once the nut is cracked, the Argan Kernels are found inside. The Kernels are then roasted and pressed and once pressed, the unfiltered Argan Oil has been created.
The process for cosmetic Argan Oil is the same process, minus the step of roasting the kernels. The reason for this is to avoid a scent of nut that is too overpowering for a cosmetic.
We opted for an Organic Argan Oil by Teddie Organics. The oil is comprised of 100% Pure Organic Cold Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil. It can be used to nourish and protect the skin and can reduce the signs of aging to create more youthful appearance. It can be used on the hair to help repair, dry damaged hair as a result of coloring, over processing or using heat styling tools.
The directions state to apply 2-3 drops of oil to clean, damp, or dry skin or hair. This product can be used twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening.
How was our experience with Teddie Organics Organic Argan Oil?
Our first experience was less than impressive. We first applied the oil directly to damp skin and rubbed it in. We wanted to test the moisturizing effect on the skin. Since it’s an oil, it feels very sticky and tacky. Assuming this would absorb into the skin quickly, we were quite surprised to find that several hours later, our skin was still sticky.
Next, we applied a few drops to clean, towel dried hair, avoiding the roots and crown. It’s important to apply this product (and any hair product of this nature) to the shaft of the hair. Applying a product like this to the roots will weight the hair down and may cause hair to look dirty and greasy. Even though we avoided the roots, we experienced this problem. It is impossible that we used too much product, so we intend to attempt again. Using a few drops proved to be too much and we were left with greasy hair that needed to be rewashed.
We don’t feel its fair to give this product a negative review without giving it a second chance, using far less product. We will provide you with an update once we have tested this product again. Teddie Organics does offer a 100% money back guarantee so if this product doesn’t hold up to its expectations, we can opt for a different product or a refund.
Another great option for this product would be to treat it like a deep conditioning hair mask. To do so, simply heat a towel in the dryer, apply the Teddie Organics Organic Argan Oil to the hair and wrap in the warm towel, leaving on for a minimum of 10 minutes. Then rinse the oil from the hair completely. This is a great way to give yourself an at home, DIY, deep conditioning treatment.
