Everybody is an expert, right? That’s what they want you to believe. Unfortunately, those that think they are experts are often all wrong. They share insight that you take as being literal, only to find out that it’s nothing but a total myth.
Whether you believe me or not, it doesn’t matter. I’m telling you what I believe and I truly believe that most of the advice you get online is nothing but a bunch of bologna. Skin care myths can destroy your skin. The best thing to do is to know them and avoid them like the plague. Here are some myths that I know of which you should know as well.
Skin Care Myths You Must Know To Avoid
There are a ton of skin care myths that you need to understand. Not so that you can share them with others. More so that you don’t waste your time trying to put them to work for your skin. I’ve done the research and I know the truth. Therefore, I’m passing the knowledge on to you right here, right now.
Full disclosure, these myths are not in any order of importance. In my opinion, they are all important to understand. So here goes nothing…
The first myth that I want you to understand is the myth that biotin can help your hair grow at a faster rate. People think that taking this supplement alone will help make your hair grow at a more rapid pace. Here’s the thing, it doesn’t do that. Instead, it strengthens your hair, it doesn’t make it grow faster. Some believe that this supplement can actually make acne develop as well.
Another myth that’s out on the streets today is that you must do facial exercises if you want to get rid of your wrinkles. That’s actually a total myth. There is no guarantee that doing facial exercises will actually help reduce your wrinkles or cause them to disappear. The truth is that some professionals feel that it facial exercises might make things worse.
This next myth is a big one that can wreak havoc if not careful. Some people think that specific skin types don’t need to use SPF. No matter what ethnic background you may come from, you must protect your skin from the sun. Trust me, any other approach is just absolutely foolish. Every skin type needs between 30 SPF and 50 SPF in order to protect itself from sun damage.
Another myth that you need to know about is that coconut oil can do wonders for your acne. What I mean is that there’s a myth going around that coconut oil can help clear up your acne. However, it’s just a myth. You need to understand that coconut oil clogs pores and sometimes using it on your skin can cause breakouts. In other words, it can make your acne worse, thus bringing out even more blemishes.
The last myth I have to share today is that oily skin should not be moisturized. That’s not true really. All you need to do is find a moisturizer that works for your skin. If you’ve got oily skin, then you need to use a light moisturizer versus a heavy one, that’s all.
