It’s after lunchtime on a Friday and the only thing that your thinking about is getting out of work and rushing to go meet up with your significant other or some friends. Your brain is in decompress mode already and you’ve likely got the party bug or slight fever at a minimum.
I get it as it’s normal to want to unwind and let loose over the weekend. You’ve worked your tail off all week putting in 40+ hours grinding your life away, so you deserve to have some fun. One thing you need to remember is that your skin doesn’t easily forgive or forget.
Many people out there put forth the effort all week long to diligently care for their skin, and when Friday night comes around they forget about everything that they’ve done. They throw caution to the wind and that’s when it all happens.
Dueces! See you on Monday, everyone! Actually, I’m joking, kinda…Look, I’m going to lay it all out on the line for you here and and tell you what you should do to not let your weekend ruin your skin.
Ways To Fight The Typical Weekend Skin Condition Battle
I’ll do my best to not sound like a boring loser, even though many of you may think that of me already. Here are some simple ways that you can keep your skin looking great throughout the weekend.
Skip Happy Hour Drinking
You are going to kill me for this one but I’ve got to say it. You should really think about skipping the happy hour session with your friends. Drinking too much alcohol is going to wreak havoc on your skin. If by chance you do decide to partake, make sure you’re hydrating yourself each drink. That means one alcoholic beverage followed by one tall glass of water. If you didn’t know, drinking booze can really destroy your skin as there is such thing
as a skin hangover.
Dodge The Junk Food
When you’re well into a few drinks at happy hour or while hanging out on Saturday afternoon, chances are you’ll start to have a craving for junk food. some people opt for fast food such as greasy burgers, whil others go for ice cream, chocolate and other sweets.
Drop the junk food and allow me to make some suggestions instead. Instead of grabbing that bag of Fritos or Doritos, pick up a bag of Kale chips at the local Trader Joe’s store. If you’re looking for something sweet, drop the candy bar and pick up an acai berry bowl with bananas instead.
Hit The Gym
If you do decide to over indulge, then you need to hit the gym this weekend. Might I suggest going to a group fitness class or a boot camp class with some friends? This will help release all the toxins and stress that’s built up in your body over the week. Trust me, your skin will definitely be grateful for your actions if you do this. I live close by the Equinox in South Florida, so I typically head there to get my weekend sweat on. Conveniently, there’s a steam room where I can sweat out some of the toxins that have built up over the week as well.
Now that you’re out of the office, it’s even more crucial that you spend time protecting your skin from the UV rays. Wear a high quality sunscreen and reapply it throughout the day if you’re outdoors golfing or hanging at the park for longer than a couple of hours. There is nothing worse than dealing with a sunburn on Monday morning after too much fun in the sun.
All of these things will likely keep your skin in much better condition versus if you choose to ignore everything I’ve said. Honest to god, they’ll all make a difference on how you feel and look come Monday morning!
