I know it’s Friday and all but I’m here to set the record straight. Actually, before I do, I’d like to wish you a Happy National Donut Day! Don’t get too excited though because you’re not having one if I have my say in the matter.
I know, you probably hate me right about now, especially since it’s Friday and you can’t wait to get out of the office. Sorry, that’s the way the cookie crumbles or should I say donut…
Sugar Face, Here’s A Reason To Skip National Donut Day!
Here’s why I want you to step away from that delicious breakfast dessert. For starters, donuts have zero nutritional value. I’m talking literally none! In fact, if you want to get down to specifics here, a delicious donut from Dunkin’ Donuts called, the Maple Creme Drizzle, contains 370 calories.
It’s got a total of 19 grams of fat, 360 milligrams of sodium, 47 grams of carbs with 28 of them sugar and a tiny 3 grams of protein. None of the vitamin value is over 6% of your daily nutritional value. What a waste of a meal right there!
If you’re consuming all those calories in one single donut then chances are you’re consuming too many sugars and processed ingredients.
The sugars used to make donuts are often made with refined sugar. This specific type of sugar causes your insulin to spike and as a result inflammation of the skin occurs. That’s just scratching the surface though. Inflammation can hinder collagen production and the end result is ugly sagging skin and lots of wrinkles.
It’s a state that many people refer to as sugar face. There’s a reason why Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen omit sugar from their daily diets. It’s to help keep the inflammation to a minimum.
Sugar from donuts can also cause your testosterone levels to become all out of whack which as a result can harden your blood vessels. Eat a have dozen donuts and only will your skin look super sallow, but you’ll likely see some dark circles form in your undereye region.

Now, if you’re a donut addict and you just can’t seem to step away from these tasty sugary breakfast treats, then you’ll likely end up eventually being overweight and battling chronic inflammation for years to come.
Do yourself a favor and drop the donut, even on National Donut Day. Today’s the best day to kick the habit! Although I’ve decided to shun the consumption of donuts today, I have to give credit where credit is due. If I were to indulge in any donut it would definitely be devouring one or two from the Salty Donut in the Wynwood district of Miami. They’ve got the best donuts I’ve ever had in my entire life.
