Yes – I’ve got face masks to share with you too!

Rejuvenating Your Skin While You Sleep

Beauty sleep is not some silly wives tale. It’s actually very important for the overall health of our body. We need to get a good night’s sleep. Without a good night’s sleep, you will feel tired, and trust me, this will show especially on that pretty face.

Have you ever heard of the circadian rhythm? It’s something that as newborns we haven’t yet developed. Circadian rhythm is what regulates all the processes in our bodies, and it’s responsible for the health and wellness of our largest organ – OUR SKIN.

While we sleep, our bodies rest, heal, rejuvenate and regenerate themselves. This shows in people that take care of their body. It can be noticed in the general mood of some and almost always in “the look” r condition of your skin. It’s so easy to notice a well-rested person, as they typically have a bright and well-rested complexion. The look on their face can sometimes be considered perfect. It’s not all just sleep…Sometimes it’s a face mask that helps out.

Simple Tips For Getting A Good Night’s Rest

There are a number of things that you must consider if you want to keep your skin looking good. You’ve got to sleep right and doing so requires a few things…

Sleep in a good bed wearing comfortable clothes

Sleeping is important and seeing as though we spend roughly a third of our lives in bed, the one that we sleep in and the clothes we wear to bed are very important. Up your sleepwear game and get a nice bed.  The following day you will feel energized and looking good.

Be mindful of the temperature

Ideally, the temperature in the room should be around 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Too warm – your body will tire easily, too cold – your body will feel the toll and work overtime to heat itself. Sounds crazy I know, but just give it a try. Find the ideal temperature for you. Mine personally is 68 degrees.

Sleep in a bedroom

This sounds obvious, but some people don’t do it. While you can get shuteye just about anywhere, it’s important that you sleep in a bedroom. The room should be decorated in a calm, soothing style, without any electronics. No TVs, no smartphones, none of that nonsense. Leave it out in the living room. Focus on sleep in the bedroom.

Use a good overnight face mask

The one thing you should do for your skin, besides eating healthy and getting a good night’s sleep is to use a good quality overnight face mask. The overnight mask is specifically made to be used during the evening while you sleep.

This should be the last thing you do before going to sleep. Clean your face, brush your teeth and apply the overnight face mask before hitting the pillow. These masks work, so let it work its magic while you sleep.

Best Overnight Face Masks

Now for the good stuff, keep reading below and find out which are the best overnight face masks for every type of skin. There is literally something for everyone!

Sensitive Skin

SkinCeuticals Phyto Corrective Mask

This is an amazing mask, specifically designed for people with super sensitive skin. It contains active botanical extracts from cucumber, olive, and thyme, as well as hyaluronic acid that has hydrating properties. This can be used as a calming treatment, a leave-on cream for soothing damaged skin and as an overnight mask which helps rejuvenate your skin.

Mature skin

Kiehl’s Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque

As we get older, our skin starts to mature. It loses its ability to naturally hydrate itself. This combined with day-to-day environmental factors and harmful UV rays leave us with mature, dry and cracked skin.

To help skin regenerate at a more optimal rate, you should use a proper mask that will counteract the harmful effects of free radicals and the environment. One mask you might consider is the Kiehl’s Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque. This is used overnight and it helps feed your skin, providing antioxidants and rejuvenating your mature skin back to Neverland with Peter Pan. I love the Kiehl’s brand too, FYI.

Oily Skin

SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque

If you have oily skin, then you know it needs a mask that can deliver little hydration and help with balancing oils. A mask that delivers this is the SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Masque. It contains hyaluronic acid and Vitamin B5 in a gel-like mask that leaves the skin hydrated and soft. We’ve covered this brand in a review, check it out here.

Dry skin

Vichy Quenching Mineral Face Mask

I hate dry skin, and I love the fact that you can fix this condition overnight. Dry skin needs a lot of hydration, and an excellent way to deliver it is by regularly applying a proper hydrating mask. Most people opt for overnight masks to fix this due to the sheer convenience.

A good choice is Vichy’s Quenching Mineral Face Mask. This is made with the mineralized thermal water by Vichy and Vitamin B3. These ingredients along with the other in the blend make the skin soft and properly hydrated.

Dull Looking Skin

Biotherm’s Life Plankton Mask

Dealing with dull skin? No problem! The dull looking skin often needs to be refreshed and revamped, and a good way to do this is by using the Biotherm’s Life Plankton Mask. Plankton is not a common ingredient but it’s becoming very popular as the days progress. This mask makes the skin soft, rejuvenated and hydrated, refreshing the complexion.

Combo Skin

Lancome Hydra-Intense Masque

Combo skin can be tough to deal with. It’s skin that is partially “normal,” and partially “oily.” To properly refresh this skin type, you will need to use a light mask, preferably in a gel-like formula. A good choice is the Lancome Hydra-Intense Masque. Reason being, It’s light, yet contains no oils and leaves the skin soft, smooth and supple.

Stressed-Out Skin

Lancome Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Serum-in-Mask

If you are under a lot of stress, your skin will show it off, trust me. To relax your skin and rejuvenate it, you can use Lancôme’s Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Serum-in-Mask. This mask helps relieve the fatigued skin, bringing hydration and radiance to your face. It has been specifically formulated to handle high-stress levels which is why I’ve suggested it here. Not to mention, Lancome is a solid brand with a great reputation!

Conclusion

The suggestions above are our selection for overnight face masks for different types of skin. These need to be applied regularly, as per the instructions on the labels. Feel free to experiment a bit but don’t stray too much.

Most importantly, no matter your skin type and the mask you select, the best thing for your skin is to eat healthy food, drink plenty of water and get a good night’s sleep.
