One of the most popular brands within the skin care industry is none other than Olay. They are massive, popular, and a huge player in this game. I’ve actually been studying this brand for quite some time and can confidently say that it’s one of my wife’s favorite skin care brands. Trust me, I wouldn’t lie about that to anyone. However, even for her, the number of products and the vast selection can be overwhelming. That’s one of the reasons why I’ve gone out of my way to share what I know about this brand and particularly, what I know about the Olay Foaming Face Wash. They’ve been in business for decades, so we’ve got a lot to cover here today. Here’s what you need to know about the skin care company and more specifically the foam face wash.
I’ve done the research and I’m here to share what I know about this brand, more specifically the foaming face wash. Here’s what you need to know before trying it out.
Is Olay Foaming Face Wash Worth Trying? Find Out!
The Olay skin care company has been introducing some nice products to the market for over sixty-five years. This brand has been a fan-favorite for many generations, and as such it has remained popular as can be up through today. Even though the Olay products vary, for the purpose of this review I’m only going to be covering one in particular. I’ve have selected the Olay Foaming Face Wash to focus on and cover in depth. I’ll kick things off discussing things about the company.
The Olay company has been around since way back in 1952. It was founded in South Africa. The name of the company comes from the word lanolin, which was actually the main ingredient in the first Olay product. Since then, Olay has come a long way! Today it’s a part of the Procter &Gamble and a globally recognized brand. Yes P&G is a HUGE company and brand with lots of money and power.
Olay brings to you a wide variety of skin care products. They’ve done their job to take this to the market as quickly as possible. It should come as no surprise that they use a wide range of active ingredients which are included in many products. The company slogan has changed over the years, and today it is “Ageless.” Not exactly sure why they chose that slogan, but they did and guess what, I’ve got no problem with that, not here to judge.
Olay products are intended for various uses and applications. Here I’ll only be focusing on the ingredients in the Olay Gentle Clean Foaming Face Cleanser.
This face wash is intended for people with sensitive skin, and as such, it is formulated without any alpha hydroxy acids, which causes irritation to your skin. As a substitute for the alpha hydroxy acid, this face wash contains ingredients like sodium myristoyl sarcosinate, methyl glucose dioleate, and sodium trideceth sulfate, along with some others.
Unlike the alpha hydroxy acid that can strip away that grime and exfoliate the skin, the active ingredients here are mild, yet still effective in removing the dirt, impurities and excess oil from the skin. They do so by creating a gentle foamy lather that helps wash away any dirt.
The Olay Foaming Face Wash is also made with polyquaternium-10 and aloe vera extract which helps to moisturize the skin. To further protect those with sensitive skin, this product is made without oils, colorants or fragrances. Instead, it contains some very mild preservatives like phenoxyethanol and citric acid (I covered this ingredient recently in this update on citric acid here).
Time to talk product…Here’s what I know about the Olay Gentle Clean Foaming Face Cleanser – the Foaming Face Wash as we call it here, is a very good cleanser. It’s formulated for people with sensitive skin as it gently cleanses the skin, removing the impurities, but does not strip the skin of its important oils nor does it cause irritation. The formula is mild, and contains no added fragrances or colorants, to prevent further irritation to the sensitive skin.
As far as application is concerned, it should be used in the morning and in the evening, instead of whatever traditional soap you’re using for cleaning your face. Simply wet your skin and apply a small amount of the cleanser to your skin. Gently massage it into your skin for a minute or so. Rinse with warm water and pat it dry. Complete whatever the next step is in your typical routine.
The formula is hypoallergenic and very gentle on the sensitive skin, yet powerful enough to clean your skin. Still, people with very sensitive skin should be careful when starting to use a new product and I suggest that you always do a skin patch test before applying it to your face.
Olay is a giant and they’re here to stay. Specifically, the Olay Gentle Clean Foaming Face Cleanser is a well known, very popular product. As far as reviews are concerned, I found many online, and there are plenty that rave about this product. I can surely say that this is a favorite product for a lot of people. The overall rating is about 3.5 out of 5-star rating, followed by mainly positive reviews. While the star rating isn’t stellar, it’s good enough for most people.
Satisfied consumers have reported that this face wash is performing as expected, not drying the skin, but gently cleansing. There are some negative reviews from people that found this product lacking in some ways. However, that’s to be expected with these types of brands that are sold at mass scale.
As for pricing, it’s excellent for the size – about $5.5 for a 5-ounce bottle. This is very affordable and fit for any budget. The Olay Gentle Clean Foaming Face Cleanser is available almost everywhere, so anyone can and should give it a try at least once.
