Lots of people are transitioning from traditional skin care products to natural skin care alternatives. Some people are doing so for their own personal beliefs. Others do it to further protect the environment and a cheap attempt to help prevent the commercialization from evolving so quickly.
My point is, people have their own personal reasons why they do things. What you need to know is that natural skin care alternatives do exist and people are taking action daily to incorporate them into their lives. While conventional products are a piece of cake to get your hands on if you live in the United States, it doesn’t mean they work better.
I’m going to share some of the most important natural skin care alternatives to traditional products that you can begin testing immediately.
What Are Natural Skin Care Alternatives?
For those of you still unfamiliar with the term, these are natural products that you can use instead of using products which can be bought at the local Norstrom, Sephora, Ulta, or dermatologist office.
Switching from traditional to natural isn’t that tough. All you need to do is make a decision and take action, that simple really.
I”m going to kick things off immediately and start by providing you with a number of natural skin care alternatives that you begin using immediately. I’m not going to lie, it’s more common for women to use these techniques rather than men. However, I don’t see any reason as to why guys shouldn’t try and take a more natural approach to skin care as well.
Moisturizers and Lotions
I’ll start with something that almost every person I know uses, skin moisturizer. There is one specific product that many people turn to these days when it comes to moisturizing their skin and that’s coconut oil! Honestly, it might be one of the best ingredients that anyone can attempt to use to moisturize their face. Reason being, it’s packed with lots of lauric acid, which helps boost collagen levels.
In addition to that, you’ll find that coconut oil is great for those that have acne as well as oily skin. The antibacterial properties that coconut oil contains can help your skin fight off the bacteria that commonly causes acne to form.
Use coconut oil as either a moisturizer or lotion to help keep your skin looking great.
Did you know that many of the products that you purchase at the store contain key ingredients that you can find in your kitchen? A popular natural skin care alternative to products purchased at Sephora are basic oil and sugar scrub formulas. Creating these natural exfoliators are a piece of cake. All you need to do is mix coconut oil or olive oil with brown sugar or white sugar. Whichever you prefer is fine. Add equal parts of each and use the mixture to better exfoliate your skin. You can use this on your entire body, assuming that you do not have any strange allergy to any of the ingredients mentioned.
If your skin is very oily, you may wish to exfoliate using baking soda instead. It can help you quickly remove the dirt and blackheads from your skin.
I personally don’t use natural face wash but some people actually prefer this alternative to commercial products. Should you decided to try is out you can start by mixing almond oil and Castor oil. I suggest you use 3 parts almond oil and one part Castor oil. Mix it together and rub it on your face. Leave the oil on your face for a short period of time (three minutes) then wipe it off your face using a clean soft washcloth. You’ll be amazed at how your skin feels after!
Some people only believe in using natural skin care products in order to prevent or limit the aging process. There are plenty of options for those looking to prevent aging. For starters, you can start by increasing your consuming of certain natural products. I’d personally suggest consuming more coconut oil, vitamin C, cod liver oil, and maybe supplementing with some gelatin. All of the things just mentioned will help boost collagen production from within.
Alternatives To The Alternatives
One thing that you need to understand is that it’s very easy to find alternatives to some of the ingredients mentioned above. In the event that you have an allergy, then you should attempt to find an alternative ingredient that can produce the name desired results.
For example, if you happen to be allergic to coconut oil, then you can substitute that for another type of oil such as argan oil. My point is simple, there are plenty of options out there. All you need to do is a little bit of research and you’ll be able to find something that’s worth trying.
Does It Have To Be 100% Natural?
To be honest, I would not suggest it any other way. as far as I’m concerned, if you want to take the natural route, then you must use products that contain 100% natural ingredients. Assuming that they do not, you’re not really doing your body any justice by taking them. Sure, they may help improve your skin but not to the extent that certified 100% natural products will!
One final thing that I’d like to mention is that looking good requires effort to be put forth. In the event that you’re not willing to put forth effort in order to look good, then don’t expect positive results. It’s just like anything else that you do in life. Without consistency or any type of effort at all, then you’re not going to be able to accomplish your skin goals. I like to think of it as being similar to trying to lose weight or get in shape. Long-term, we all know that the natural route is better and more sustainable. The natural skin care alternative is a more demanding route but the rewards may be better.
