The Pretty Little Liars actress, Lucy Hale, has officially spilled the beans with regards to her daily skin care regimen. More importantly, this regimen is not just to fight off basic dirt and grime but to control cystic acne breakouts!
You would probably never think that she has to deal with this condition because she looks blemish free on camera. However, makeup and touchups can do wonders on screen. Nevertheless, Lucy spent most of her early 20s dealing with cystic acne problems. The TV star revealed all this during an interview that she had with Byrdie. Basically, she claims to have had to deal with hormone driven acne breakouts since she turned 21. Doesn’t sound like a very nice 21-st birthday present, does it?
One of the main issues with cystic acne is that it’s not on the surface of your skin. The issue is much deeper than that, pun intended. A last minute appointment at the dermatologist isn’t going to help cure this issue, I promise you that much. Please, whatever you do, you must refrain from popping any cystic zits. Don’t even try it because it’s only going to make matters much worse and more painful.
What treatment method does Lucy Hale recommend to cure her cystic acne?
I thought you’d never ask…
Truth be told, she’s been taking a trial and error approach to this stuff for years. Guess what? Lucy has finally been able to perfect the process!
There are a few things that Lucy swears by when it comes to her daily skin routine. The first thing you need to understand is that she’s double cleansing on the regular. What exactly do I mean? Well, she’s not taking any days off (that we know of) from this cleansing process. II’ll be the first one to tell you that I believe her when she says it’s helping.
Every single night, Lucy Hale uses a product called DHC Deep Cleansing Oil in order to remove any makeup residue that’s hung on for dear life throughout the day. The next thing she does is bust out her trusty Clarisonic Cleansing Brush and applies Restorsea Reviving Cleanser to the brush.
Next in the routine is exfoliating! Of course, doing this on a daily basis can be very bad for your skin. This is why she’s not doing it on a daily basis. Give this a try once or twice a week max. Feel free to try the same exfoliating product that Lucy uses which is, Lancer The Method Polish.
The next step is applying serums to her face. We’re huge fans of many skin care serums as they really do pack the meanest punch in terms of antioxidants, vitamins and more. Feel free to give SkinCeuticals, and iS Clinical a shot. Last but certainly not least, she adds in some moisturizing cream to keep her skin well hydrated.
One final thing that I want to point out about Lucy Hale. While I don’t personally know her, I would imagine that her life is very stressful at times. Keeping your stress levels to a minimum is crucial when dealing with acne prone skin. One of the best ways to do this is to exercise daily. That being said, Lucy isn’t afraid to hit a SoulCycle class regularly these days.
If you’ve battling cystic acne, then you should think about trying Lucy’s routine out.
