Being born with a skin condition is no laughing matter. Just ask this female makeup artist living in Los Angeles. Tanesha Brown (now 32 years old) was born with a skin condition known as vitiligo. She had been bullied her entire life and it was all due to her unique skin pigmentation.
If you’re not familiar with what vitiligo does to your skin, it causes changes in your pigmentation. White patches typically form all over your body if you have this condition. The patches are primarily due to the loss of melanin pigment.
Anyone that has this condition I’m sure understands what it can do to your self-esteem. Growing up, Tanesha Brown didn’t have it very easy. The kids at school would pick on her. They even went as far as referring to her a “Dalmatian” and even “Zebra” all because of the appearance of her skin.
In order to deal with her self-esteem issues, she would cake on tons of makeup in an attempt to hide her white skin patches. At the young age of 20, she became pregnant and finally decided to start living her life fully accepting who she was and what her skin looked like. Since this was a condition that she couldn’t cure, she felt that it was time for her to embrace her beauty and become more of an advocate for women with uncommon skin conditions.
Well, it turns out that Tanesha Brown did the right thing. She now has plenty of supporters and followers on social media that love what the makeup artist is doing. She has an Instagram account that’s gaining popularity. Feel free to check it out here. Tanesha posts photos of herself showcasing her body and encourages others to do the same.
I guess the moral of the story is to be yourself and appreciate who you are. Sure, it’s a wonderful thing to want to improve your self-appearance and we are very strong advocates of taking action to improve your skin. However, the end goal needs to be to embrace and really respect yourself. Be the best version of your possible!
