I’ve been having the urge to get on a super healthy eating and living kick lately. It’s one of those sudden urges that I typically get when I begin putting on some extra body fat workout inconsistently, or eat too many unhealthy foods. Sometimes, normally after the holiday season, I get on this cleanse kick where I want to do a whole body cleanse. Today I’m going to tell you about the liver cleanse.
This type of cleanse is essential if you want to get healthy. A liver cleanse can help you remove toxins that have built up in your body over a long period of time. Given the overabundance of pollution in the world, toxic products, unhealthy refined ingredients and processed foods, most of us need to detox. For those that are interested in revamping their body, you may want to attempt the liver detox. It can help improve your skin, hair, nails, internal organs and even help clear your mind. At least that’s the impression that I get!
What Is A Liver Cleanse And Why Is It Good?
Our bodies process toxins and other things that we ingest through our liver. The liver spends a great amount of time just detoxing in order to function at optimal speed and precision. It becomes a real problem when our bodies stop functioning properly. In can wreak havoc and really put a damper on our digestive system.
People often think that a liver cleanse is only relevant to those that drink alcohol and are subject to getting cirrhosis of the liver. Well, turns out that most people don’t know that cirrhosis can be caused by many factors, not just too much alcohol. People that eat shellfish, take too many medications, eat poorly, or expose themselves to harsh chemicals can all develop cirrhosis of the liver. This is basically scarring that can occur which makes your liver unable to function properly. At that point, people need a new liver or their liver and body shuts down.
Signs Your Liver Isn’t Right
If you’re having any of the following things occur, then you might be having issues with your liver. It may not be functioning the way that it should and you need to address the issue as quickly as possible. In the event that any of these things are occurring, then please start a liver cleanse immediately.
- Excessive constipation
- Yellow skin
- Yellow eyes
- High blood pressure
- Acid Reflux
- Weight gain
- Constant fatigue
- Excessively bruise
The good news is that if you do find yourself having issues listed above, you can fix your liver by doing a liver cleanse. I can almost guarantee that you will feel much better in a week or two if you take action to do so.
Liver Cleanse Steps
The liver cleanse is a simple process that takes just a few steps. I’ll cover each of the steps as best as possible without getting into anything too scientific here.
1) Eliminate Toxins From Food Consumed
The first thing you need to do is get your diet right. If you’re consuming foods that have been processed like crazy, then you’re basically putting your liver at terrible risk. Food additives such as refined sugars, hydrogenated oil, and other processed junk are basically destroying your body. These kinds of foods are literally toxic and your body will look and feel toxic just the same. If anything, opt for coconut oil instead!
Chemicals are often injected into foods in order to help better preserve them or prolong the shelf life of them. They incorporate these additives to help squeeze as much revenue out of consumers as possible at the lowest cost. Stop eating foods that contain these god awful ingredients. If you find yourself eating foods from McDonald’s, Burger King, or even the local deli counter, you’ve gotta stop! Replace those foods with natural and healthy types of foods. Doing that alone will help cleanse your body of the junk that companies fill their products with.
2) Start Juicing!
You’re not going to be able to consume the amount of raw veggies necessary to cleanse your liver, therefore you need to start juicing. Even if you hate certain veggies that are essential to a detox, you can often mask them through juicing. Not to mention, drinking green juices can help you better absorb the vegetables which are essential for this whole process to work properly.
There are certain types of veggies that you’ll want to incorporate into your cleanse. I suggest you start by consuming more brussel sprouts, cabbage, and cauliflower. Yes, they aren’t that enjoyable but they are essential. Feel free to add some tastier fruits to the mix such as beets, kale, carrots and more. I also suggest adding some ginger to the juice.
The purpose of these juices is to basically begin to balance your body’s pH levels. Adding the ginger can help with any bloating or gas that might occur. It’s also a great natural anti-inflammatory.
3) Consume Your Potassium
You’ll then want to start crushing foods that contain lots of potassium. They have lots of health benefits aside from the traditional cleansing qualities. They will help reduce your blood pressure, lower cholesterol, improve cardiovascular function, and more. Start by consuming sweet potatoes, beets, tomato sauces, beans, and bananas. The one thing you’ll need to be careful with is if you have high levels of potassium in your kidneys already. That can be a problem and if that’s the case, then I suggest you only consume potassium in low or moderate amounts.
4) Take Milk Thistle, Tumeric and Dandelion
These herbs are ideal for any liver cleansing process. Many people that take high doses of medications or steroids also take milk thistle. They use this to help break down and eliminate the buildup that often exists in our bodies. People that take medications, subject themselves to pollutants, consume too much alcohol and more are often left with toxic build up in their system. Milk thistle supplements can help eliminate that build up.
Turmeric can help restore liver metabolism and sugar balance. It does lots of other things but these are what are most relevant to liver cleanse treatment.
Last but not least, dandelion root helps you eliminate toxins quicker than usual. It’s a natural diuretic and that’s why it works so darn well. It’s also known for reducing blood sugar, heartburn, and assisting with digestive issues.
5) Take Liver Tablets or Eat Liver
The last step in this process is to consume liver. It’s packed with so many vitamins and nutrients you wouldn’t believe. Your best bet is to consume some liver from grass-fed cattle. Some people prefer to take liver pills and that’s the option that most that don’t like liver take.
If you’re living an unhealthy lifestyle, then you’re not only hurting yourself but you are also hurting those that care about you. I would strongly suggest that you treat your body with the utmost respect possible. After all, you only have one body and one life to live. Why not make it last long enough to truly enjoy it?
