Not going to lie here, I’m a huge advocate of coconut oil. I’ve been using this for months now and it really does make me feel great. One thing I’ve recently started is putting coconut oil in coffee. In fact, I do this every single day now and don’t ever skip a day. I typically consume coconut oil with coffee first thing in the morning before going to the gym.
Some may even say that I’m obsessed with drinking this perfect combo. I can’t live without coffee in my life and I love it for the many health benefits associated with consuming it. In addition to that, I’ve been a big caffeine fan, so you know I’ve hit the motherload when it comes to that aspect of things. I work very hard both in and out of the gym. Consuming caffeine helps me attain my goals that much quicker all while staying alert, and on point for what the day throws at me.
The truth of the matter is simple, consuming coconut oil in coffee makes it that much tastier and better from a health perspective. I’ll do my best to explain why. In addition to that, I’ll share my personal pre-workout shake mix with you so you can attempt to consume it first thing too.
Coconut Oil In Coffee And Why It’s Good For You
Some people love coconut oil and others absolutely hate it. However you feel about the tropical ingredient, it’s not going to change the fact that it’s fantastic for your body and skin. These nuts can be used for an endless amount of things and most notably, skin cream ingredients. The few reasons that people put coconut oil in their coffee is to take advantage of the antibacterial properties, antifungal, and antiviral properties as well.
Coconut oil is high in saturated fat and despite it being looked as being terrible for you, there are many reasons why it’s better than plain old vegetable oil and plain butter.
The fats contained in coconut oil are primarily medium chained triglycerides also known as MTCs. There’s some stuff that you need to understand about these MTCs too.
As your body digests fats, it typically begins the process in the mouth with most of the action taking place in the small intestines. Biles helps you break down the molecules and passes them to fat deposits in your body. In the event that you lack energy, the energy from the fat that’s been stored is then used. Your body withdraws the fat as necessary.
However, the MTCs basically bypass that entire process. There is no need for bile to break down the chains because they are much shorter than most other fats. The MTCs are pushed directly into your bloodstream and as a result, your body as easy access to energy from the MTCs and they won’t be stored as flabby love handles. Well, in the event that you are consuming too many calories, you may find yourself developing love handles but that’s typically the only scenario.
In a nutshell (pun intended) there are basically three simple reasons why you should add coconut oil to your coffee.

Which brings me to the second reason why you should consume coconut oil, which is to speed up your body’s metabolism. Since coconut oil contains MTCs, your body is being exposed to triglycerides that help accelerate your metabolism. Basically, the calories in this fat are not stored and instead it’s used for fuel right away.
Coconut oil can help you successfully boost your immune system too. It all comes down to the amount of Lauric Acid in the coconut oil. About 50% of the fatty acids in coconut oil is Lauric Acid and it contains antimicrobial properties. Side note, this product line that I recently reviewed contains this ingredient.
My Shake Recipe
There’s a very simple recipe that I drink on a regular basis and it’s fairly simple to make. It only contains three simple ingredients which are listed below:
1 Tablespoon of coconut oil
1 Scoop of PEScience Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein (Blended Protein)
1 Cup of hot coffee
The first step is to brew the hot coffee. I typically use a Kuerig machine to quickly brew just a single cup of coffee. I then take one single tablespoon of coconut oil and stir it into the coffee. From there, I take the coffee and coconut oil and dump it in a blender with ice. Next, I add one single scoop of PEScience protein, mix for 30 seconds and then drink up. It tastes absolutely fantastic and holds me over plenty for my morning workout. Anything more or less wouldn’t be good. This does the job perfectly. I strongly suggest that you give this a try!
