The new year is literally less than 48 hours away and some people haven’t even started to think about the changes they’re going to make in 2017. To those that haven’t thought about it, shame on you for not being proactive about things. If you have thought about things you want to do to improve yourself, then I hope you’ve incorporated some skin care habits into your plan. If not, I have got you covered. I’m going to share some of what I would consider the most important skin care habits to develop in 2017.

There are certainly a ton of things that you can think about incorporating into your skin care routine or habit for the new year. I want you to focus on these few things before doing anything else. Why? Well, because they are actually quite simple and will likely have the most impact on things.

The first thing I want you to do is to start working out daily. I know what you’re thinking right now. You want to rip my head off because I’m not even talking about something that’s skin related. Well, you are wrong my friend! Exercising and working out at a gym on a daily basis can do wonders for your mind, body, and spirit. When you workout, you eliminate toxins from your body. You also reduce the level of stress that your body has to deal with. Trust me when I say that it’s something you will thank me up and down for suggesting in just a few months time. Your skin will clear up as a result of working out, assuming that you take care of it as necessary when you’re done training.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s move on to habits that are more product centric. The second thing I want you to do in 2017 is practice being consistent with your skin care routine. Using products once a week do nothing for your skin. Things only work when you practice cleanliness and proper skin care on a daily basis. That’s why I suggest you simply start there if you’re not there already.

The next thing I want you to start practicing is the double cleanse method. It’s a skin cleaning method that will help you eliminate oil and deep grime or dirt. The key here is to be consistent with it. Take your time to apply the proper cleansing balms as well as water-based cleansers. This will put a stronger guarantee of you having a clean face and healthier skin in general.

This next habit is really important and likely the one that reduces the effectiveness of all those pricey products that you’ve been using. That’s right, I’m talking about double dipping into them! Your skin is crawling with disgusting germs and I hate to say it but everyone has this issue. When you double dip, you’re exposing the product to excessive germs and bacteria. Most products in jars are moist and dark. This causes them to grow bacteria when double dipping takes place. Remove only the amount necessary from the jar (with a sanitary q-tip) and do not stick your finger in the eye cream jar¬†or any other jar for that matter. Simple as that really.

Last but not least, I want you to use products as directed. Some people completely avoid this because they claim they don’t have the time or the patience. If a product says to leave it on for three minutes, then stop what you are doing and leave it on for three whole minutes, not two.
