However, it’s time to face the facts like an adult…there are foods that cause acne and they must be avoided! I know, you’re about to tell me that you hate me. Honestly, it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve heard it so please, carry on!
Anyway, back to what I was saying…
Some foods are delicious, but they’re likely destroying your face and skin complexion. Even worse, some of these foods are causing you to break out with terrible acne. In fact, acne is one of the more common skin conditions out there and it’s one of the most difficult conditions to treat. You’d think that due to the fact that it’s so prevalent, that it would only make sense that we’d be inclined to combat it and do so successfully. However, acne is a beast to get rid of and it’s no fun at all. One of the first things that you can think about doing is changing up your diet.
Foods That Cause Acne Breakouts, So Avoid Them!
If you’re fighting acne, then the first thing you’ll want to do is take an inventory of all the food that you consume throughout the day. Avoiding certain foods can be one of the most effective and efficient ways to fight off acne. Surely you’ve heard that certain foods such as chocolate, Pepsi, Coca-Cola and other foods cause acne. Some dermatologists believe that they contribute to this factor while others disagree with this entirely. However, there are many dermatologists out there that agree on foods being a contributor to acne development.
If you’re looking to save time and money on acne treatments, then all you need to do is simply avoid certain foods. Changing your diet up can do wonders for your health, body, and wellness in general. I’ve known people that have made simple changes only to reap the benefit of them and eliminate blackheads, cysts as well as pustules. Definitely Avoid Sugar
Perhaps one of the worst foods you can consume for your skin is sugar. Anything like soda, cookies, candy, and other sweet treats need to be avoided at all costs. Sure, consuming them makes you feel extremely satisfied from a psychological perspective but that’s about it. In my personal opinion, sugar needs to be at the very top of the list of foods to avoid.
The worst type of sugary foods are those that are processed and packed with sugar. I’m talking about those ring dings, twinkies, Twix bars and all those pastries that you find at the bakery. Additionally, any and all soft drinks should be avoided too. You’ll want to steer clear from the juices too. The main reason you want to avoid this is due to the inflammation that it can cause. More inflammation means being more prone to acne development.
Most dermatologists agree that processed sugary foods are terrible for you and that they do nothing good for your skin, so avoid them at all costs. Instead, find alternative healthy sweets out there that contain less processed sugar.
Coffee Can Be Bad Too
Some people are going to hate me for saying this but it’s true, coffee can be really bad for your skin. Yes, if you’re a coffee junkie then you might be putting your skin at risk. It’s the coffee bean itself that actually causes acne to form. The reason this happens is due to the acid that the coffee contains. Acid is one of those things that naturally triggers inflammation and also causes your skin to produce more sebum than necessary. More sebum production makes your skin feel more oily and it makes your skin more prone to breaking out. Assuming you’re a huge coffee drinker and you have bad acne, then switch to tea and see how it impacts your skin.
Dairy (Milk From A Cow)
Some people simply cannot put down the milk or ice cream bar. I’ve personally stepped away from all of these foods over the past few years and it’s cleared up my skin tremendously. Those drinking cow’s milk with their morning coffee or perhaps their daily bowl of cereal, I’m going to suggest you stop.
Your skin is not happy about it whether you believe it or not. Dairy is one of the most common foods to cause acne on the planet. It has something to do with the hormones in the milk or something along those lines. What happens is these hormones become imbalanced and they cause your body to become inflamed. As inflammation sets into your skin, the perfect setting for acne growth does as well. My suggestion would be to avoid dairy completely. Stop eating anything that contains dairy. I’m talking about cutting out cheese, milk, ice cream and anything else that comes from a cow!
Wheat Bread and Gluten
I know you’re likely sick and tired of hearing it from people, but gluten and wheat might not be good for you. Well, what I mean is that they might not be good for your skin. Wheat bread contains gluten and wheat, both of which are horrible for your skin. They cause inflammation and often cause acne to form. It’s the tasty ingredients that we love which are often the worst for us.
Assuming that you want to still consume bread, it would be best for you to avoid wheat bread and any other type of bread that contains gluten. There are plenty of gluten-free options for you to look into. Doing so will likely cut down on the number of acne breakouts that you’ve been having.
Well, that’s the rundown of foods that you absolutely want to avoid because they do cause acne. Most people pay no mind to this advice and for that reason alone, they’ll never have clear skin. Don’t be that guy or girl! Instead, take action and avoid foods that cause acne or you’ll be sorry!
