Every so often our inbox floods with some topics that people want to learn more about. For some strange reason, we received a few questions over the last ten days mentioning salmon oil.
In the past, we’ve covered topics like fish oil, krill oil, calamari oil and more. Well, I noticed that we haven’t really published any information on salmon oil and what it does for your skin as well as your body. Sure, most people have never thought of this but for those that have, I’m here to share some knowledge with you.
Why Salmon Oil Is Good For Your Skin and Body
Let me kick things off by sharing a little bit of information on the most important topic of all (far as I’m concerned) and that’s diet. As you may know, consuming a diet that’s rich in omega 3 fatty acid is essential if you want to stay healthy. These fatty acids contain two powerful substances known as EPA and DHA, both which are considered to be good fats for your body.
The problem is that these fats are not those that we produce naturally. The only way to increase our omega-3 fatty acid levels is through our intake.
Salmon oil derived from pure salmon contains the EFAs that I’ve just mentioned. The Omega 3 oil from salmon is much better than that from other types of fish due to the increased concentration levels. However, you’ll want to be careful when taking this due to the potential mercury exposure.
Now, you’re probably thinking to yourself, “He hasn’t mentioned a single thing about skin yet.” Should you make that statement then you’d be 100% right, up until this point. The truth is that consuming fish oils such as salmon oil containing omega 3 fatty acids can improve your skin.
It’s been said that Omega 3 fatty acids found in salmon oil can help reduce inflammation within the facial capillaries. A study from back in 2008 determined that it also helped reduce the red blotches that existed on patients skin. In the event that you have skin conditions such as eczema and rosacea, it would be in your best interest to start consuming salmon oil.
In the event that you’re allergic to fish, then you’ll want to stay away from this supplement. If you rather not use it, then there’s good news. You’ve got plenty of alternatives out there to choose from. Some people just aren’t willing to take fish pills multiple times a day just to have great looking skin and hair.
If you’re the type that can’t stand fish, then there are alternatives for you to consider. One supplement you might want to consider is flaxseed oil. It’s loaded with omegas and is super good for both your skin and body in general. In the event that you don’t like flax oil or fish, then there are other healthy foods you can consume to improve your skin.
Whatever route you decide to take, it’s best to consult with your physician before doing so. Chances are you’ll be happy you did versus just going for it. Also, just an fyi, the brand shown in the picture above, I personally use that exact brand although I purchase a different fish oil product that they manufacture. I highly recommend that you give the brand a shot should you decide to start taking salmon oil.
