Dr. Hauschka

Today I’m here to talk to you about a brand called Dr. Hauschka. It’s a skin care brand that has been around for many years. Founded in 1967 by Dr. Rudolf Hauschka, he set out to create a skin care product line that was safe for the environment that would help heal people by taking a more holistic approach towards skin care. The line is what many would have once considered a “natural” skin brand with only the freshest ingredients being used from farms all over the world.

However, one thing you need to understand about Dr. Hauschka’s products is that some do contain ingredients that have been known to irritate the skin at times. Certain ingredients such as alcohol, fragrance, witch hazel, geraniol, and a few others have been known to irritate users. While it may seem like I’m calling them out on this, I’m honestly not. Instead, I’m just repeating some facts that I’ve recently become aware of over a short period of time.

Facts About Dr. Hauschka

I want to share a few facts that with you about this product line. Everything that I’m about to share with you has been published online and I’m simply reporting my findings after doing extensive research on the brand. It’s best to read this entire review prior to making any purchasing decisions. As previously stated, I’m not saying that this product line is or isn’t one that you should think about using. Instead, I’m simply suggesting that you learn as much as you can about the products and the brand itself before buying. Now let’s get to the facts…

If you take a close look at any of the Dr. Hauschka products, it’s easy to pinpoint some of the ingredients that might irritate your skin. You’ll notice that many of the ingredients listed on the labels are not meant for those with sensitive skin. If you have allergies, it may be an even bigger issue. Some of the products actually contain peanut oil which is one ingredient that many people have huge issues with from an allergy perspective.

Of all the ingredients contained in the products, it seems as though the alcohol and fragrance are the two that irritate users the most. The reason for this is most likely because of the drying out that occurs from the alcohol. The fragrance is also a common irritant.

On a good note, if you purchase products from the company website, you’ll get free shipping on most orders. As far as refunds and exchanges go, they do offer refunds for products that have been purchased within a 45-day window. They only offer this to those that have purchased products directly from them via the company website. If you’ve chosen to make a purchase locally through a retailer, then you must deal with the retailer to get a refund. No refunds will be given for any products that have expired.

Now, if you want to try a few products out before you purchase them, then you can do so. They have samples available. I suggest you contact the company directly if interested in obtaining a sample.

A Breakdown Of Things

While the Dr. Hauschka products are globally distributed and recognized, it might not be the best brand of choice for those looking to avoid irritants altogether. We’ve mentioned before how important it is to avoid both fragrances and alcohol as much as possible. They’re not going to help improve your skin. Sure, they might make you smell better, but that’s not going to help improve your complexion. Point blank, it’s just not great for your skin.

Consumer Comments

After doing some more research, I came across some consumer reviews. While I’m not going to share the comments verbatim, I will give you an idea fo what was said by each of them. Many had the same negative comments related to both the unpleasant scent as well as the unpleasant feeling on the skin.

People mentioned that they liked the Dr. Hauschka creams but that after using the cleanser, the residue one the skin was not very nice. Others stated that their skin was left feeling dirty and heavy.

Not all the reviews were negative. Some consumers actually liked the product stating that their skin felt tighter after rinsing it off. It also felt incredibly smooth according to one consumer. Seems to me like some feel as though it helps improve the texture of their skin while others think it makes it much worse.

Regarding the scent or fragrance, here is what some people had to say about it. Some folks felt like it had an awful smell, something similar to spoiled champagne. Another person mentioned that the products had a “funny smell” to them.

Not all were negative, some said they felt the natural smell was enjoyable and others went as far as stating that they love the way it smells.

Dr. Hauschka Product Reviews Video

Someone recorded a video of their own personal review of the products after using the line for months. She has taken the time to record a 13-minute video sharing her personal experiences using the product. My suggestion is for you to watch this video before making any decisions. Who knows, you may watch it and decide that this is absolutely for you.

What Do We Think

Honestly, going with gut instinct here, it seems like there are lots of irritants in these products that we would most likely suggest avoiding. However, not all the products contain irritants. Put for the effort to really investigate the product before using it and only do so once you’ve convinced yourself that it’s safe to do so. Before applying the product directly to your skin and over a large area, I’m going to suggest that you try it out on a small area first. Give it ten minutes and see how your skin reacts.

Ask A Derm

Still not convinced whether or not this is safe to use? Grab a trial size sample and head to your local dermatologist. Ask them to test it out or investigate it. Chances are they will be able to give you some feedback on the product.

Conclusion

Don’t use any of the Dr. Hauschka products until you decide it’s the right brand for you. Test them out and do your own research first. That’s really all I can say on this product line. While it might have been around for many years, that doesn’t mean it is for everyone! If you’re looking for something natural, then you’re likely better off going with some other organic skin care brand versus just one that claims to be natural.
