Cupcake Face Masks

I’m an absolutely huge fan of sweets. If I had the choice, I would literally eat cupcakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Until they find a way to make these tasty treats healthy, I’m out of luck when it comes to devouring cupcakes day in an out. That said, summer is here and you’ll likely be hitting up a bunch of parties in the near future. My suggestion would be to stay away from the cupcakes if you want to keep your skin zit-free.

If you’re one of those people that tend to battle oily skin as the days get hotter, then you’ll want to know about the cupcake face wash. As delicious as this mask sounds, it’s not edible but it might just be the answer to your oily skin. There are plenty of reasons to check this delicious face mask out and I’m going to do my best to share them all with you today.

But first…

Since I know some of you are not into the DIY approach, if you’re interested in still experiencing this cupcake face mask, you should check out one that the LUSH company makes called the Cupcake Fresh Face Mask. However, I’d personally suggest giving the homemade face mask a try. Sure, it’s a bit messier but it’s definitely worth the effort.

As for the LUSH product, should you do some investigating, you’ll notice that the ingredients included in this formula are cocoa powder, mint, linseed, ghassoul mud, spearmint oil, and glycerine. You’ll get all those ingredients should you decide to take a quick trip to the LUSH store and buy the product. Sounds like a huge win for the day right? Well, why not just make it at home instead?!?!

Creating A Cupcake Face Mask

Making the cupcake face mask similar to the one sold at LUSH is pretty simple. In fact, it’s so simple that anyone passing this up might be downright cray, cray. As a typical healthier skin advocate, it’s your duty and obligation to test, treat, and repeat when it comes to caring for your skin. My guess is that taking this homemade approach is going to be far more “natural” than using any product purchased at the store.

On top of that, making the cupcake face mask is a lot less expensive than buying it at the store. While I’m not super cheap, I do like to save money like everyone else. Chances are that you already have most of the ingredients in your house already.

In the event that you’re battling acne on your face, pimples, zits, simple blemishes or whatever, then you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a rundown of all the ingredients that you’re going to need to create tasty looking treat (remember, you can’t eat it).

You may need to pick up a few items but most of them are hiding in your cabinet.

  • Healing Clay
  • Unsweetened Cocoa powder
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Honey
  • Apple Cider Vinegar

You actually have the option of using ACV or Glycerin but since I’ve shared so many positive things about apple cider vinegar, I think it’s only right that I suggest using this versus the glycerin.

Now that you’ve got the ingredients down, here are the steps to take to start creating this homemade face mask.

Step 1: Take one single tablespoon of cocoa powder and place it into a mixing bowl.

Step 2: Add a half of a tablespoon of honey to the cocoa powder.

Step 3: Add a generous tablespoon of healing clay to the honey and cocoa powder.

Step 4: Add a couple small drops of vanilla extract to the ingredients in the bowl.

Step 5: Add one generous tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.

Step 6: Mix all these ingredients together until the mixture is no longer clumpy.

At this point, the mixture should look extra tasty, like chocolate frosting but remember you must not attempt to eat it!

You’re now ready to apply the mixture to your face. It’s safe to leave the cupcake face mask on for roughly 15 minutes. If you have really sensitive skin, then only leave it on your face for 10 minutes.

As for the leftover cupcake batter, put it in a container and mark it as “NOT SAFE TO EAT,” just so you don’t confuse yourself or anyone living in your house.

What Should Happen?

A few things should happen to your skin. You’ll notice that your skin will begin to feel tighter as the clay begins to dry on your face. Once the mask is removed, it should continue to feel firm. The mask should basically leave your face feeling super refreshed.

You may begin to notice some redness of the skin. If that occurs, then the best thing to do is not to panic. It’s likely just the result of your pH levels balancing out.

How Often Should You Use It?

My personal suggestion would be to use this mask no more than a couple times daily. If you do, chances are your skin will look and feel brighter.

One final thing I should mention, I’m not a dermatologist so it’s best to get some professional advice before attempting to apply this mask to your skin if you’re seriously worried.

Other Types of Face Masks

If this cupcake face mask doesn’t seem like your cup of tea, then might I suggest trying to use one of the many other masks on the market. You’ve got plenty of Korean face masks and even some with fun emoji’s on them.

Another option would be to get your charcoal fix by making an activated charcoal mask. You can make one of these with the simplest of ingredients in your home. Trust me, I’ve done it myself. If you’re not a DIY person, then head to Sephora and pick up a bottle of something to try out.

The bottom line is this, if you don’t do anything, then your skin is simply not going to improve. It’s really as simple as that. Having said that, my suggestion would be to make your own mask at least once. If you hate the results, then discontinue the process.

T/Y to HelloGiggles for the idea.
