We spend a lot of time researching skin care products and brands developing things daily. Afterall, it’s our job to do so and we wouldn’t be any good at our jobs if we didn’t do that. Now, that being said, we spend quite a bit of time reading other popular publications out there. One of the most popular health and beauty publications out there is Cosmopolitan and it’s perhaps most known for being honest and upfront about products.
Which is why we’re sharing today’s update showcasing The Skin Awards of 2018 by Cosmopolitan. What exactly is this? Well, it’s a rundown of a bunch of hand-picked products which have been selected by the beauty editors of Cosmopolitan.com. After trying a bunch of products and discussing the ins and outs of skin care with professionals of all kinds, they’re now sharing what they consider to be the best of the best and must-haves if you care about your skin.
Cosmopolitan Reveals The Skin Awards Winners
Now, here’s how this is going to go down. We’re not necessarily here to interfere or add to their awards list but instead to simply share the results to their awards and how to purchase the products if interested. The good news is that most of these products are economical or affordable for the average American consumer. Now, without further ado, here’s a rundown of all the award winners and what you need to know about each of them.
I’m guessing that Cosmopolitan is very much in tune to how important it is to keep your skin well-moisturized. They’ve selected the PCA Skin Hydrator Plus Broad Spectrum SPF 30 as being the best “Double-Duty Moisturizer.”
According to Cosmopolitan, this serves multiple purposes and acts as a great moisturizer and protector of sun. It’s not a greasy as the typical moisturizer and works on just about any type of skin, even acne-prone or sensitive skin. We’ve covered a lot of water-based moisturizers and will likely be considering this one to be added to our list as well. ($36 on Dermstore.com)
Best Anti Aging Cream
The best anti aging cream according to this publication is the Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream. This was created by an individual named Augustinus Bader. The product incorporates that use of something known as TCF8 aka Trigger Factor Complex, which uses stem cell technology to regenerate cells.
The product is packed with vitamins, amino acids, and other naturally occurring molecules and more. If you’re looking to heal your scars and plump up your wrinkles, then this might be the product for you. ($265 on augustinusbader.com)
Best Face SPF
Based on what I’ve read, this product was chosen as the best SPF for your face because it protects your skin against UVA, UVB, and infrared rays. Hitting all three makes the SkinMedica Total Defense + Repair Broad Spectrum SPF 34 Sunscreen a top product according to Cosmopolitan. This product not only protects your skin but it also repairs skin that’s been damaged as well. ($68 on Amazon)
Best Body SPF
My guess is that you’ve seen this product on your grocery and pharmacy shelves. The Neutrogena Beach Defense SPF 30 Spray is a clear spray that’s not greasy and protects your skin with a proprietary blend.
It protects your skin against UVA/UVB and more. I should also mention that this is waterproof for those beach and pool days, protecting your skin for 80 minutes per application. Given that it’s oil-free, it makes this an easy choice and a winner. ($9.99 on Ulta.com)
Best Brightening Serum
While we personally like the Elite Serum Rx product, Cosmopolitan has given the award to a really powerful product. Skinceuticals C E Ferulic Antioxidant Serum is actually comparable to a product the Delfogo creates but I’m not here to talk about them, instead, I’m here to tell you why this won the award for best brightening serum.
For starters, you’ll find that this serum contains a bunch of antioxidants, vitamin E, and vitamin C as well as ferulic acid. The product can help protect your skin from UVA, UVB, infrared, and even pollution from the ozone. If you’re dealing with dull-looking skin or hyperpigmentation issues, then this is the product for you. ($166 on skinceuticals.com)
Best Face Exfoliator
The best face exfoliator according to Cosmopolitan is Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment. This product is a nighttime treatment that you simply need to do before bed. It contains things like lactic acid, lemongrass oil, and even licorice extract.
Using this product can lead to a reduction in pore size, glowing skin, smoother skin, and more. We’ve done some research on this brand (see it here). If you’re willing to spend the money, then I suggest giving it a shot. ($105 on Amazon)
Best Body Exfoliator
You’ll want to use a different exfoliator on your body versus your face. Cosmo has named Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub the best exfoliator for your body. If you’re dealing with skin bump issues, then this might be the way to go. The scrub is known for being a great product for those that have been fighting dead skin build up. One of the main ingredients is shea butter and it smells great to boot! ($18 on Amazon)
Keep in mind, this is not the whole list of winners. We’ve captured our favorites to showcase right here today. If you’re interested in learning about all the winner – click here.
