CeraVe

Valeant Pharmaceuticals was spawned sometime before 2001 and it is the company that’s behind the skin care line known a CeraVe. This product line is a popular line that has been developed by various dermatologists that are strong advocates for good personal health care and taking care of your skin. Before you take it upon yourself to purchase any of the CeraVe products, I suggest that you digest this review in it’s entirety.

CeraVe Review

Curious what CeraVe is? Well, it’s a widely used skin care line that I’m confident you’ve come across at one point or another in your lifetime, especially if you frequent the pharmacy or local grocery store. The product line is said to be free of sulfates and fragrances. However, it does contain parabens which are typically used to preserve skin care products.

According to my research, CeraVe is best if used daily however there are no specifics on known application techniques. As a result of using this product, your skin should feel hydrated almost instantly.

Product Facts

This product is very affordable if you are looking for a low-cost solution to dry or dehydrated skin. CeraVe moisturizers and cleansers are all free from being tested on animals. The strange thing that I learned about CeraVe was that the website specifically states that the products do not treat skin conditions. I find that a bit confusing given that I consider dry dehydrated skin to be a skin condition. Another fact about this brand that’s worth pointing out is that the products do not contain sulfates. Many dermatologists will advise that you avoid using products that contain sulfates so I guess that’s a positive.

Consumers Opinion On CeraVe

I took the time to further investigate what consumers had to say about CeraVe and the skin products that they manufacture. This brand has been around for many years and everyone at Skincare.net is very familiar with this brand. However, the number of complaints that mention irritation from product use as well as skin issues is a bit shocking.

There were two specific issues that are worth mentioning here. Many consumers were complaining about the irritation and the greasy feeling that using the product had caused.

For example, one consumer mentioned that they had purchased the CeraVe moisturizing lotion to use while at work. The result of using the product left their hands “red and bumpy.” Another consumer mentioned that chronic use and applying the products to their face resulted in having it “burn for hours” on end.

On the contrary, there are some consumers that praised the product stating that using the product has led to great results and that it’s quite gentle on their skin.

As previously mentioned, the other main issue with this product is the terrible greasy feeling users must deal with as a result. One consumer mentioned that the product initially felt great on their skin but as the day progressed, it felt very greasy. Some feel as though the product just sits on the top of your skin leaving an unpleasant greasy residue.

Consumers have compared this brand to Lubriderm given the consistency, lack of fragrance and the similar effect it has on skin.

How Do Other Sites Rate It?

I took a look at some of the other skin care websites that provide reviews on various products and I have to say that most do not favor using these products. For example, the popular product rating site, Good Guide gave CeraVe a 3.1 out of 10 rating. I don’t know about you, but this rating doesn’t make me feel confident about using the products.

When you come across a product rating that lists an average of 3.1 for 25 products with 18 products being scored a 3.0, it should be somewhat concerning and should make you think twice about using these products.

Final Thoughts

The products this brand manufactures are very affordable and they might be a good choice for individuals that cannot afford to invest much in their skin. However, if at all possible, I would strongly suggest that you not include this as a staple product in you skin care regimen.

There are plenty of other options out there in terms of advanced skin care for sensitive skin today. I’d have to recommend shying away from this product if you can afford something of higher quality. I would almost guarantee that your dermatologist would recommend that you use other products versus using any of these products.

If this opinion doesn’t sit well with you and your still on the fence about whether or not you should use Cerave products then I suggest that you contact your dermatologist to get their opinion.
