I talk all the time about the fact that eating junk food is horrible for your skin. Now, some of you out there just can’t stop yourself from eating pizza. It’s a known fact that eating pizza may be impactful to your skin. The good news is that there may be a better way to indulge if you’re going to do so.
Eating Pizza & Caring For Your Skin
Look, I get that some of you have food addictions. I tend to eat for function more than anything so I don’t care for it much. For those that do, there’s a right way and a wrong way to consume this pepperoni pie.
We all get cravings from time to time and avoiding pizza completely for the rest of your life isn’t the answer. Instead, you should develop healthy eating habits and treat yourself every so often assuming that your face isn’t filled with acne. Let me explain why you want to avoid pizza as much as possible.
Now, some people are going to disagree with me while others may praise me for stepping up to the plate and saying something about this. Whatever your opinion might be, keep an open mind as you read this and put the slice down until I’m finished.
According to an esthetician named Eileen Bischoff, pizza can affect your skin quality. She stated that it’s, “because the ingredients that are used in pizza (such as dairy and spices) stimulate the sebaceous gland,” and we know what those glands do, they are the main engine that creates oil which lubricates your skin. The problem, too much oil often leads to breakouts.
Based on my research online and an article I stumbled across, other dermatologists have mentioned that the cheese can boost your chances of developing acne.
For those of you that are pizza lovers, you might want to thank Dr. Janet Prystowsky for her contribution to the study. She claims that “Eating pizza is fine for your skin unless you rub it onto your skin.” While we would never suggest rubbing a greasy pie all over your face, people have done stranger things.
I guess my point here is simple, if you want to indulge once in a while, then do so. However, ordering a pizza every week or multiple times during the week may eventually lead to having bad skin. Wash your hands and fight the temptations. Oh, last but certainly not least, if you’re having cravings, then hit the gym for a workout. Stimulating your body can help talk those cravings away. While you’re at it, you might as well try this diet that one of our writers shared too. Enjoy your kale salad with a side of chicken tonight!
