Now that my house guests have left and I’ve adjusted my diet, it’s now time to revamp my skin care routine. Instead of taking everything that I’m currently doing into consideration, I’ve decided to scrap it all and build out a brand new skin care routine.
Sure, I believe in the mentality of, “If it’s not broken, then don’t’ fix it.” However, sometimes it helps to shake the tree a bit and go back to square one. I do this a lot with regards to diet and daily food intake.
What you probably didn’t know was that sometimes it’s necessary to head back to the drawing board and start over to get things properly aligned. I take this approach with regards to projects, businesses I own, my workouts (even supplements I take), and baiscally everything that I do.
Now, with that said I’m going to share everything you need to know in order to build a skin care routine from the ground up.
Full disclosure: Before getting started, I need you to understand that changing up your skin care routine will not make you look like David Beckham nor will it make you as tough as Chris Evans in Captain America. However, it will make you look and feel better. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, time to get started…
Build A Fool-Proof Killer Skin Care Routine (Just By Reading This)
Do not stray from anything here that I’m about to share with you. Just stick to the script and you’ll be just fine. Far too many people try a combo approach and it gets them nowhere. Read this, take action and win. Now let’s get down to business.
The very first thing you need to acknowledge is how crucial exfoliating is for your skin. If you’ve never done it, then you’ll soon be very familiar with it. Don’t be scared, it is not going to hurt or kill you. Exfoliating your skin pays off in dividends especially if you’ve got oily skin. If you’re sporting slightly oily skin, then go ahead and just exfoliate every three or four days and that’ll do the job.
Some people have really dry skin, and if that’s the case, then you’ll want to make sure that you only exfoliate once a week. However, don’t put it off completely ever.
If you’re looking for an exfoliator, I want you to know that you don’t need to opt for the most expensive product on the planet. Find something that’s reasonable (under $30) and you’ll be good to go.
Now, although you think you did all the cleansing necessary, you haven’t. You need to pick up a cleanser that’s not going to overdo things. If you’re suffering from dry skin, then you’ll want to avoid harsh cleansers. However, you need to have one on deck for those days when you need it most. If you’re looking for something that can help with both exfoliating and cleansing, then give the Charcoal Face Wash by Clinique a try. All you need is a small amount and you’re good to go.
Assuming that you’re looking to cleanse with something that’s going to condition your skin more than clean, then pick up a toner. I’m a bit biased when it comes to toners. The main product that I like using is the Kiehl’s toner which doesn’t contain any alcohol and it’s got this amazing cucumber scent to it. Yes, it’s expensive but worth every penny.
This part of the routine is often looked over and it’s a shame that it is. Reason being, it’s perhaps one of the most important aspects of a good skin routine. In my personal opinion, moisturizing is the lifeblood of youthful complexions. I prefer using the Kiehl’s Facial Cream because it works better than the rest. In fact, I use this not once but twice every single day.
If you really want to step your game up and show your skin who’s boss, then I suggest that you start using a solid skin serum. If you’re dealing with dry skin, then this is one thing that you’ll want to start doing daily if you’re not already doing it. I find that on days that I don’t use a serum, I’m more of a jerk. The main reason for feeling that way is because, well, I look how I feel when not using a serum.
As you can see, setting up a simple fool-proof skin care routine is easy. It consists of four steps and that’s it. If you can’t handle that, then I’m truly sorry but you’re going to end up looking old and beat up well beyond your actual years!
