I’ve been told many times over how important it is that you eat healthy¬†as possible. I started eating for fuel and function versus fun a long time ago. That’s likely why I enjoy chocolate cake so much, on the rare occasion that I’m able to indulge in it. Anyway, eating breakfast is very important and if you’re not eating it at all, then you’re doing your skin and body a disservice.

Did you know that your skin is directly related to your digestion? You can use all the night creams and magic trendy serums that you want but if you’re not putting the work in while in the kitchen, then you’re out of luck.

The bottom line is this if you want nice looking skin you need to consume foods that can help you get there. What I mean by that is eating foods that your body can easily digest. That holds true, especially during the winter months. Here are some foods that you should consider this winter. Don’t let them scare you, just try a couple of them out and see how you like them.

I love oatmeal, but I’m not going to suggest that today. Instead, I’m going to suggest that you opt for some quinoa! It literally tastes delicious if you simply add almond milk after cooking. I always add more protein to it and some coconut butter. You can try to add some chia seeds as well along with a small banana (instead of making a mask with it) or better yet, blueberries. Eating this helps your skin through your gut. If you want healthy skin, you need to have a healthy gut!

The next breakfast is one that’s often referred to as a breakfast bowl. Basically, what it consists of is everything you can think of. Quinoa or even brown rice, mixed with some tomatoes, avocado, egg, and vegetables such as asparagus, broccoli, and carrots. It’s perfect served up warm.

Another perfect breakfast that will help keep your skin looking great is oatmeal made with bone broth or almond milk topped with a soft boiled egg. I should probably mention how good almond oil is for your skin too.

Last but not least, I highly recommend starting your morning with water and lemon or even better, some ginger tea. It will successfully wake up your digestive system and even help you detox your body.

All of these things are essentially great for your skin and digestive system. Give them a try if you dare!
