Biologique Recherche P50 Review

I’m a big fan of variety. That holds especially true when it comes to skin care products. I’m the first to admit that I’ll never assume or suggest that you pass on a brand or product without doing your research. Which is why I’m covering Biologique Recherche and more specifically a product line that they’ve created called P50. Here’s what you need to know about this brand and the P50 product before you try it!

Biologique Recherche P50 reviewsBiologique Recherche P50 Review

A few companies have made a significant impact in the beauty industry, and one of those companies just might be the Biologique Recherche brand. They’ve got their product called P50. In today’s review, I’ve shared what I know about this French company. You’ll also find that I’ve provided you with an overview of the company policy/mission as well as a detailed look at the P50 line of exfoliating products. But first, time to cover things about the company…

The Company

Biologique Recherche was founded in 1970 as a research and development company focused on creating new skin care formulas as well as improving the existing skin products available at that time. The company founder, Yvan Allouche was the mastermind behind the majority of the products and any innovation. The P50 line of exfoliating toners is one which Yvan Allouche worked hard to perfect.

The company went on to make even more advanced skin care products, and today the Biologique Recherche company has a wide range of products which they offer. Due to the high-quality and effectiveness of the products this company has created, the Biologique Recherche products can now be found in over 70 countries. Majority of the products are sold via high-end spas and beauty salons. Before diving into P50, I’ll cover the main ingredients.

Ingredients

The Biologique Recherche philosophy is simple. They believe in keeping things authentic and creating the perfect harmony of ingredients in order to provide consumers with what they need. The high concentration of active ingredients (typically 20% or over), botanical, marine and biological extracts are what make these products effective. You’ll find no added fragrances, as well as respect for the original structure and the constant improvement of the already proven formulas. They work to keep improving things through lab research.

Since this review is aimed at the P50 product line of exfoliating toners, I’ve covered the main actives to make it easier for us to take a closer look at things today.

What’s the main active? Well, it’s none other than alpha hydroxy acid. Based on my research, the Biologique Recherche P50 line is the first of its kind to contain several acids that assist with the shedding of the dead skin cells and promoting the growth of new skin with a brighter tone and most importantly, fewer wrinkles.

Glycolic Acid

This is a so-called alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) and it’s very effective for exfoliating of the outermost layer of your skin. This acid has the smallest molecule of all the alpha hydroxy acids, and as such, it can penetrate deeper into the skin than the rest. Due to the size and power of the molecule, glycolic acid is very effective for those looking to exfoliate efficiently and effectively via chemicals. However, people with sensitive skin should avoid using it, as it may cause irritation.

Lactic Acid

Yup, I’ve got another alpha hydroxy acid to share with you. Lactic acid is very effective if you’re looking for exfoliating ingredients. The ingredient is recommended for consumers dealing with dry skin issues, as the lactic acid is a great moisturizer. It’s a humectant, meaning that it has the ability to draw moisture from the air and pull that moisture into your skin. While this cannot penetrate deep into the skin, it still assists with the process of exfoliating chemically.

Salicylic Acid

This acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA), and it too has exfoliating properties. Due to its composition and size, the salicylic acid penetrates deeper than the lactic and glycolic acids. It’s able to clean and “decongest” or “unclog” the pores, removing any impurities and dirt accumulation. This ingredient is typically recommended for people with clogged pores and acne-prone skin.

Lastly, I’d like to add that the Biologique Recherche P50 products do not contain parabens or fragrances. My guess is that this is one of the reasons why many consumers who have tried the products may be the same folks that complained about the unpleasant smell. However, most seem to be happy with the final results of using the products.

P50 Products

The Biologique Recherche product line contains many products. One line is the P50 line consisting of exfoliating toners. I’ve covered the four different versions offered within the Biologique Recherche P50 line.

Biologique Recherche P50

This is the original P50 exfoliating toner and it’s remained unchanged, even today. The product gently exfoliates and purifies the epidermis. It contains a balanced formula intended for people with seborrheic dermatitis and people with hyper-keratinized skin. You’ll find that this product contains a lot of strong chemicals which help with the exfoliation process, such as lactic acid, salicylic acid, vinegar, sulfur, and niacinamide.

Biologique Recherche P50V

The same as the original P50, this toner also gently exfoliates the skin and purifies your skin. The main difference between this and the original P50 is the ingredients. The P50V formula contains several important vitamins that nourish the skin as well as exfoliate it.

This product is recommended for people with dry, dull-looking skin lacking tone. The product formula was created with the end goal being to treat those with dry skin. That’s where the plankton extracts along with brewer’s yeast extracts come into play. They provide protection and gentle, yet effective hydration of dry, dull-looking skin.

Biologique Recherche P50W

The Biologique Recherche P50W product is enriched with anti-inflammatory ingredients that help soothe sensitive skin, prevent irritation and inflammation. It still offers the ability to gently exfoliate and purify the skin. This formula does not contain glycolic acid, but alternatively contains glycerin and Arctium lappa (burdock) root extract which have been known to help hydrate and protect the skin.

Biologique Recherche P50 PIGM 400

This is the newest version, a variation of the original P50 formula with added ingredients known to help lighten dark spots, fix hyperpigmentation and further prevent the appearance of dark spots. The Biologique Recherche P50 PIGM 400 exfoliates the skin just like the other product options out there. It does so with the inclusion of added ingredients like red algae extracts, Vitamin B3 and wasabi extract which help with melanin production, brightening your complexion and balancing the pH of the skin.

Conclusion

From what I determined during my research, the Biologique Recherche brand is one worth considering. With a tradition/reputation lasting over 45 years, Biologique Recherche has brought some effective products to the market. This review covered the P50 product line of exfoliating toners. The first one, the P50 was made in 1970. Since then, the company has developed other product variations aimed at treating different types of skin.

What about the ratings? The P50 products have an amazing 5 out of 5-star rating. This means that all the users that have tried and reported their experience after using the P50 exfoliation toners have been amazed by the results. Satisfied users report that their skin was significantly smoother, that dark spots went away, that their complexion had brightened and that acne-prone skin had fewer issues. People did make comments about the unpleasant smell, but if it works, then that’s more important than the smell in my opinion. So, overall, these are products that seem to deliver. If you’ve tried them, please reach out to us and let us know!
