Have you not heard of Queer Eye? It’s a Netflix Television Series that’s basically a retake on the hit Bravo show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. The original show aired sometime back in the early 2000s and it has since been rebooted. The new show is exclusively available on Netflix and I must say, they do a pretty good job of keeping viewers entertained as well as educated.
We’re all on our own journey and given that’s the case, it’s tough to know what to do and how to do it, especially when it comes to beauty and skin. These guys know what they are doing. In fact, I’m going to out on a limb and say that they’re perhaps more knowledgeable than us in some respects.
Look – I know when to call a game so I just did.
If you take the time to watch the first season of Queer Eye on Netflix, then you’ll soon realize just how many knowledge bombs they drop left and right. Whatever you do, I suggest either watching the series or reading this article.
Because I’m about to drop some bombs that will make your mind explode.
Queer Eye Cast Shares Skin / Beauty Tips
These tips from the Queer Eye cast on Netflix will totally change your skin and beauty game for the better. Here are some of the tips that they have shared this season and what you can think about doing immediately to help improve the condition of your skin.
The first thing that the Queer Eye cast mentioned was incorporating cold into your daily routine. This approach will help you remove the puffiness from your skin and get your inflammation under control. There are two approaches that you can take. One approach is to use a gel face mask that’s been stored in the freezer. Another is to simply take the more economical approach and simply apply ice cubes to your skin from the freezer. One of the cast members, Karamo Brown, actually does this every single day at least once to keep his inflamed skin to a minimum.
Another thing that they suggest doing is “going green” and by that, I mean using concealer which has a green tint to it. The reason that people suggest using this is due to the green being on the opposite end of the color wheel. Using this color will help offset the redness in your skin and essentially neutralize the area, point blank.
Next on the list is the DIY approach. Given that awesome exfoliants can be super expensive and quite frankly unaffordable unless you’re so wealthy, you need to know how to take the DIY approach. Trust me, Jonathan is a pro when it comes to this stuff and he’s even provided a simple recipe to keep your lips flake free.
With the touch of some coconut oil, brown sugar, honey, and essential oil, you will have the perfect exfoliant for keeping your skin looking and feeling fantastic. Yes, even on your lips! Simply rub this mix on your lips, rinse it off with a warm cloth and boom! You are now officially good to go!
I love this tip that they give and I wish more would give it. Based on what I know, the crew is totally against sulfates. They are not down for using this type of ingredient and quite frankly most people aren’t. Jonathan mentions that it’s “aggressive” for hair and recommends that you switch to a sulfate free shampoo if possible.
Another tip that I love is skipping the clay mask if you’re planning a big night out on the town. Most people think that if they are going out, then they need to take action to fix their skin. Truth be told, you should have done that days ago in preparation for your big night out on the town.
Don’t think about using a clay mask the same day that you’re planning on going out. If you do, then you’ll end up with more blemishes being shown off. That is not the objective, right? Exactly! So, make clay masks a thing for the days that you stay in and avoid the socializing with your group.
This is perhaps the most important tip that they have given this season. If you’re not taking the time to put yourself together. Then you’re doing an injustice to your skin and those that have to look at you all day long. Take three minutes a day to protect your skin. Take care of yourself because no one else will.
Last but not least, I’d like to mention how important it is that you not neglect your nails. These things can get infected if not properly cared for. Trust me, you’ll want to avoid fungal infections in the nails and you want them to look good because people look at them, whether you think they do or not.
Well, that’s all I’ve got to share from the Queer Eye TV Show, but there are plenty of other tips which they drop in each episode of the show. Take the time to watch it and learn. You’ll be doing yourself and society a solid if you do so.
