I’ll be the first to say that a banana face mask sounds a bit strange. Sure, it’s one of those things that you love to eat, but almost too much to be willing to apply it to your face. Don’t let the main ingredient fool you, it’s great for moisturizing and revitalizing your skin. It is especially good if your skin is very dry or aged.
What many people don’t take into consideration is the type of bananas they use for making masks. There’s no other way to do it aside from taking the organic route. Organic bananas are one of the types of fruits that you just have to splurge on. Avoiding any pesticides is an important step in the process. What you put on your face gets absorbed into your skin and body. Those nasty chemicals are not meant for human consumption so best to avoid the non-organic bananas for your facial mask.
DIY Banana Face Mask And Why It’s Good For You
The banana face mask is really great for your skin. Some people have no idea why either. I’ll come right out and say that a homemade banana facial mask can do wonders for your skin. It literally moisturizes the heck out of your face making it feel smoother than a babies bottom. After all, that’s truly the result that we’re looking for when it comes to these masks.
Before I get into how to make the mask, I want to let you know why you should make the banana face mask. The banana peel itself has tons of healing power behind it. Many skin care gurus and even the wannabe gurus will swear by this yellow fruit.
It’s a great helper when it comes to getting rid of acne. Some people take the peels and rub them all over their faces. They do this to help speed up the healing process. The reason it’s so damn powerful is because of the antioxidant power and the vitamin C.
Bananas are also great for removing those puffy under eyes. The potassium in the banana helps reduce the retention of fluid in the orbital sac. This helps eliminate the under eye bags that you have to deal with.
Bananas are also known to help tighten the skin. That’s why so many DIY scrubs include bananas as an active ingredient.
Banana Face Mask Recipes
There are a couple of homemade banana mask recipes that I want to share with you. All of which incorporate at least a banana. Some recipes take more ingredients than other to successfully create. Your best bet is to try and create a number of them in order to determine which of them are best for you. I’d like to remind you to please be sure to test each ingredient before applying the mask to your face. You do not want to find out that you’re allergic to any ingredients when it’s too late.

Avocado Banana Mask
The avocado and banana are a deadly force when it comes to moisturizing your skin. In fact, they are the two best natural moisturizer ingredients used in DIY masks today. If you want to get crazy, then add honey. Now your mask is essentially superhuman in terms of power for extra dry skin. Here are some of the ingredients that you’ll need to make this mask. The good news is that in less than a few minutes you can have it ready and applied.
1/2 Avocado (Pitted)
1/3 Banana (Mashed)
1 Tablespoon Honey
Take all of the ingredients and mix them in a bowl. If you prefer, you can use a blender to help better combine the ingredients. Once nice and blended, spread the mixture over your face and let it sit for about 10 – 15 minutes. Rinse the mask off your face. Apply any oil or moisturizer to continue hydrating the skin.
That’s all I have as far as banana face masks are concerned. However, do me a favor and be sure to test your skin for any allergies before applying any banana face mask for a long period of time. Feel free to contact a dermatologist if you have any other concerns. Good luck and enjoy!
