I typically don’t post a laundry list of things that you should know. However, today I’m going to do just that. I came up with the idea after browsing the Internet while sipping my morning cup of joe. I’ve decided to disclose a few things to you about acne. Most of which you’ll be happy to understand.
Truth be told, I got the idea from Buzzfeed but that’s not what’s important here. The most important thing is that I’m spreading the world here! I feel it’s necessary given that over 50 million individuals within the United States have to deal with acne. It’s one of those conditions that you just can’t seem to avoid and it truly makes you and many others upset. Some haven’t got a clue how to even maintain healthy skin let alone battle a bad acne breakout.
Acne Stuff That You Should Probably Know…
Here’s a rundown of a few things you must understand when it comes to acne and bad skin in general.
You’re Not Alone
The very first thing you need to understand is that you’re not alone in this game. There are many other Americans suffering and struggling with maintaining their skin. It’s just something that we have to constantly battle and the struggle is real.
It’s Not That Simple
Some people think that acne consists of just blackheads, whiteheads, and pimple popping. Unfortunately, it’s just not that simple. There are many other types of acne that you can get. For example, cysts can form, pustules, and even huge nodules that can be a real pain to get rid of. Then there’s scarring that can occur as well.
Most Teens Get It
It’s safe to say that over 75% of teens have to deal with acne at one point or another. The cause is likely due to hormone changes and oil production. As you age, your acne will likely become less of an issue.
It’s All In The Family
If your family members have bad acne, there’s a good chance that you might have the same issues. I’m not 100% positive on that but enough to be able to confidently say it.
It Doesn’t Discriminate
Acne does not discriminate at all. No matter what type of skin you have (dry or oily) it can strike at any time. You’re either prone to developing acne or your not.
Diet Does Matter
If you’re crushing that Crush soda and downing Reese’s then you’re making things worse. Ingredients such as sugar, dairy and even processed foods in general, might be bad for your skin. Eat a well-balanced diet and your body and face will be a whole lot happier.
Stress Levels Impact Things
If you’re stressed out then you are breaking out. No, but really. Being overly stressed doesn’t help one bit and it can lead to bad breakouts. Stress is known to cause acne flare-ups to occur from time to time.
Wash After Exercise
If you’re pumping that Jane Fonda workout tape, then you best be washing your face once you’re done sweating to the oldies. Let me put it this way, if you waste time and do not do a single thing to cleanse your face after a workout then you are literally clogging your pores.
