I’m not one to gossip, but I’ve seen some friends with really dry skin this winter season and it’s just kicking off. Those really, really, ridiculously cold days are here and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. Unless you plan on getting comfy like a bear and hibernating for the season, you’ll have to deal with the cold air.
The Problem: You skin WILL get dry.
The Solution: There are PLENTY of things that you can do to kick your skin into high gear and quickly deal with the dryness.
Simple Dry Skin Fixes For This Winter
Yes, the lack of humidity plays a huge role in drying out your skin as do many other things that you’ll have to deal with. I’m going to share some of the best “fixes” that I know of which may help bring your skin back to life.
Turn Down For What???
Seriously though, turn down the hot water when showering. I know you love those hot showers and I love them just as much as you do. However, as good as it feels, it, unfortunately, does nothing good for your skin. In fact, it makes your skin that much worse if you ask me. Keep the showers short and the temp warm, not insanely hot.
Product Pondering Has Gotta Stop
Choosing the right skin care products to use matters. If you’re not using the right products, then you’re doing a disservice to your skin. There are lots of products out there that can literally suck the natural oils out of your skin faster than ever before. You’ll want to be sure to incorporate creamy products.
For example, body washes that contain moisturizing ingredients. You’ll also want to use products that contain antioxidants to help best protect your skin. Whatever you do, just make sure none of the products strip oils from your skin. Do your research and read reviews if need be.
If you want to keep your skin from becoming dry and you’re not exfoliating, then start to do so. Exfoliating is the activity of removing old skin cells which have died. The shedding of these cells is great for your skin as it helps prevent clogging. No need to do this more than once or twice a day. There are products out there that can help you with this type of thing.
Don’t Get Lip-y
You need to protect your lips from becoming excessively dry. Doing so is cheap and makes a world of a difference too. If you’ve got a couple of extra bucks to spare, then pick up some lip balm to keep your lips moisturized to the fullest extent possible.
You’ll want to crush drinks and by drinks, I’m not talking about alcohol. I’m talking good old-fashioned H20! Consuming a total of ten glasses of water daily is a must for maintaining a solid overall healthy body composition. Assuming you’re slacking on that, then it’s the very first thing that I’d like to suggest you do.
Now, if you can’t take action on any of the simple fixes that I’ve just laid out here for you, then I don’t know what to say to you really. These are simple actions that make a difference. Do what it takes or stay dry. The choice is yours.
